[THE NORTH POLE]
The giant sky fortress hovered only a few feet over the deep,
eternal snow. The pilot looked at his instruments and called back to
the large man standing at the open door and paying no attention to
the freezing winds that blew in. "Master," the pilot said, "it is
inadvisable for us to stay here. Our engines will freeze over in
five minutes if we remain in this hover."
"Then leave me," the man replied, "Return in two hours."
"But, master..."
"Are you disobeying me?"
"Never, master. We shall return in the time specified."
The man jumped out of the plane's open door and then stopped by
hovering mere inches over the snow banks. As he flew forward,
towards the opening of a dark cave, the man thought, "There is power
in there... and power is MY birthright."
The man could feel a source of dark foreboding within the cave, a
sense that something evil would claim his soul for some other purpose
if he was not on his guard.
It invigorated him.
Only a few steps into the cave, waves of black energy flowed out of
the shadows, seeking to overwhelm him.
<I am Metalia.>
<I am Beryl.>
Both voices spoke at once. <You have broken the seal that has kept
us trapped within the void of nothingness. Now, we will use your
mortal shell to rebuild our Dark Kingdom.>
The man laughed, loud and long, as purple arcs of energy began to
crackle over his form. "I think not," he said to the air, "For
though your true power is immeasurable, you are weak from your long
sleep and are easy prey to MY power."
An explosion rushed out of the mouth of the cave and caused a two
mile high tidal wave of snow in each direction.
[TWO HOURS LATER]
Two men dressed in red armor with face covering silver masks,
entered the cave. "Master," the one on the left called out, "we have
returned for you."
The two of them gasped as a purple pillar of fire erupted to life in
front of them. The men felt their knees go weak and began to
silently mouth prayers as a large, muscular, human figure moved
within the flames.
A familiar voice within the fire said, "Look upon me and fear not,
my loyal soldiers. For now, with this new power, the time of
Shadowlaw has come!"
"Vega-sama..." the two soldiers whispered.

[TOKYO]
"No... stop!" the little girl cried, trying to place the black cat
behind her back.
The group of four high school boys, gang members, laughed and the
leader, a young man with a scar running parallel with his chin, said,
"C'Mon kid, give us the cat so we can continue havin' our fun and
we'll let you run home to mommy without any trouble."
The small child stood resolute, with her chin stuck out in a
defiance that looked almost comical. "No..." she repeated, "You're
BAD!"
"Ya got THAT right," another one of the toughs said.
"Excuse me..." a voice behind the group said, "I have to go by here
to get home."
Suddenly, a teenaged girl drove the point of her right elbow into
the stomach of the nearest gang member. "Mind if I make some 'elbow'
room?" she asked.
"That's not very funny," the boy she had elbowed gasped.
"Well then," the girl said, "if you don't like my side splitters,
then how about..."
The girl then slugged the boy in the face.
"... my punch line?"
"That's... not... funny... neither..." the boy said before his eyes
rolled back in his head and he passed out.
"Who the hell..." the lead gang member said, then got a look at the
girl.
"Let's see," he thought, "Age, about fifteen or sixteen. Short
brown hair. Wearing a sailor fuku, red fighting gloves and a white
headband. Annoying smirk. Fast mouth. Even faster fists.
Underdeveloped..."
"Oh my GOD!" he cried aloud, "IT'S SAKURA THE BULLY DESTROYER!"
The other two gang members went pale. Sakura looked at them and
said, "I suggest you apologize and then leave."
The three nodded and with hurried, "I'm sorry"'s to the small girl,
they picked up their friend and ran off, leaving a large cloud of
dust behind them.
Sakura sighed. She HATED that title but it WAS effective in dealing
with punks like them.
Kneeling down in front of the little girl, Sakura asked her with a
gentle smile, "You okay, kid?"
The little girl nodded and held up a small black cat with a band aid
on the center of it's forehead. "They were trying to hurt her," the
child said, "I patched up her boo boo."
Sakura took the offered cat and ripped off the band aid. At the
little girl's protest, Sakura said, "I'm only checking to see how bad
it is. If it's real bad, we'll have to take her to a vet."
Underneath the band aid, there was a crescent moon. Sakura blinked
and then muttered, "That's gotta be the weirdest bald spot I've ever
seen... OW!"
The "ow" was because, at the words "blad spot" the cat unsheathed
it's claws and scratched her on the arms. Sakura dropped the feline
and the cat hopped up a near by fence. Sakura turned to watch the
cat go, but stopped as her eyes met with the cat's. There was
something in those feline eyes... something that seemed to be curious
about her, judging her.
Then, the cat ran off and the moment was broken.
[TEN MINUTES LATER]
Sakura pushed open the front door and called out, "I'm home!"
No answer. Not that she had expected any.
With a weary sigh, Sakura went to her room and placed her book bag
on her bed. That completed, she picked up a large locket, walked
back outside, pausing at the front door again to call out, "I'm going
down to the river. I'll be home in time for dinner."
Without waiting for a response she knew wouldn't come, Sakura left.
However, she didn't notice the black cat that had begun to follow
her.
Sakura took her time getting to the river, using her slow walk as a
way of going through an informal meditation. She took in the chaotic
order of the cars as they battle through rush hour traffic. She took
in the sight of children playing in the yard of a day care center.
When she reached the park, she took in the beauty and magisty of the
tall cherry blossom trees that were her namesake and the sturdiness
of the thick oak trees.
When she had finally reached her destination, she felt calm and
collected enough to continue her self-training.
Placing her locket around her neck, Sakura began a simple kata,
losing herself in both the fluidity of the movement and her focus on
what she would do the day she met Ryu.
Two quick jabs, an uppercut, a forward kick, a roundhouse kick, a
jump kick, a series of spinning elbow strikes and then to finish it
off...
"SHO-O-KEN!"
Sakura rushed forward, fist at her side and then leaped into the air,
performing the Shoryuken before landing on her feet. "Someday," she
thought, "I'm gonna be able to do it without having to get a running
start."
Sakura paused, wondering if she should try again what she had
finally managed to pull off, for the first time, only a few days ago.
She hesitated because the power involved had been so intense, that
she got the impression that only a Guardian Angel had allowed her to
control it just long enough to release it.
"Well," she muttered, "How else am I supposed to learn if I don't
try?"
Sakura began to inhale and exhale slowly, regulating her breathing.
She closed her eyes, focusing only on the calmness of the moment.
When she thought back on it, it was amazing that it had taken her so
long to figure the secret out. She had seen videos of Ryu, moving
his arms in the way that she was doing, but had not been able to
understand how he gathered that... energy, that he was able to.
Then, watching a new video of Ryu that had a close-up of his face as
he readied the move, she noticed how calm he appeared, how lost in
the moment he seemed.
The next day, she began practicing the arm motions again, but this
time, she let herself go, slipping into a deeper meditative state of
calm then she had ever reached before, focusing only on completing
her task.
That was when, as it was doing now, the small blue spheres of ki
began to gather around her.
Sakura continued moving her arms in opposite circular motions,
crossing them at chest level and extending them until they were as
far apart from each other that they could be, then bringing them
around until they crossed again.
All the while, more of the small energy balls gathered around her,
orbiting the upper part of her body, forming around the invisible
circle her arms made.
Then, Sakura felt a small jolt from deep within her.
It was time.
When Sakura's arms were once more at the farthest distance apart,
she brought them directly towards each other, until there was only a
small space between them; a space that contained the ki energy she
had gathered.
She grunted with effort and grit her teeth as she went into a crouch
and brought her hands to her side, her eyes becoming blank orbs. Her
arms felt like they were on fire and she could feel the energy ball
swelling... it was even stronger then the first one she had formed.
It had only been pure luck that she had been able to get rid of it
before it blew up in her face, how could she get rid of this one in
time?
Then, like the first time, her vision unconsciously focused on a
single point on the other side of the river, a tree. Still in the
crouch, she twisted her upper body back and then whipped it, and her
hands, forward.
If someone had held up a mirror at that moment, Sakura would have
noticed a glowing crescent moon on her forehead for a brief second.
"HADOKEN!"
The Wave Motion Fist blasted forth from Sakura's extended hands...
... and sputtered out halfway across the river.
Sakura sighed. How did Ryu get so much distance out of it?
From behind and below her, a shocked voice said, "You ARE the one
I'm looking for."
Sakura spun around, her heart in her throat. She looked around
rapidly, trying and failing to locate the source of the voice. "Down
here," the voice said.
Turning her gaze downward, Sakura stared at the same black cat with
the crescent moon bald spot on it's head. The school girl went wide-
eyed as the cat said, "Forgive me. This must be quite a shock, but I
have something vital that I must discuss with you."
"You... TALKED!" Sakura exclaimed.
Then, she started looking around, calling out, "Okay, where are you?
If you think I'm going to fall for some stupid ventriloquism trick,
then you picked the wrong girl!"
"This isn't a trick," the cat said, "and I can prove it."
With that, the cat jumped up and performed a flip in midair.
Magical energy trailed behind the cat, through the loop and, in the
middle of the circle formed by the loop, a golden pendant formed and
fell to the ground. Sakura, looking at the jewelry in wonder, asked,
"Who are you? What do you want? What is this thing?"
"To address your questions in order," the cat said, "My name is Luna.
My mission is to find you and train you in the ways of being a
Sailor Senshi. That, is the Moon Prism Amulet, which will allow you
to transform into the Sailor Senshi, Sailor Moon."
"Sailor Moon?"
"Put the amulet on, raise your hand to the sky and call, Moon Prism
Power Make Up."
Sakura, curious to see what would happen, did as told.
"MOON PRISM POWER! MAKE UP!"
White magical energy washed over her...
[SOMEWHERE IN THAILAND]
The exact location was known only to a select few. It was a place
filled with dark corridors and even darker whispers. It was a place
where scientific methods and developments that were only in the
research stage in the outside world were used casually.
It was a place where soldiers drilled endlessly for a war that was
soon to come. A place where doctors examined them and recommended
the executions of those who were unable to fight properly.
It was a place where thousands of chefs cooked gourmet meals for
their glorious master and more pedestrian fare for the others.
It was a place where a subway tunnel ran deep underground, under the
oceans and reaching almost any point on earth.
In this particular tunnel, a large battalion of soldiers waited as a
luxurious subway train came to a stop, heralding the return of their
master.
The doors parted with a pneumatic hiss, allowing the large man,
dressed in a red with blue trim uniform to step out. The silver leg
guards clanked against his black boots as he walked through the
station, ignoring the salutes of his soldiers. The uniform had
trouble containing the rippling muscles that moved beneath it and and
the red cap, with the golden skull with wings on it, hid his blank
eyes from view. His black as midnight cape, gave him an even greater
ominous appearance.
His name was Vega. He was the undesputied lord and ruler of the
most powerful, whispered of and feared criminal organization in the
world.
Shadowlaw.
Vega walked past the soldiers, through the halls of the hidden base,
ignoring the scientists and technicians that scrambled to move out of
his unyielding path. Vega reached an elevator and boarded it, using
the molecular identifier to give him clearance to the top floor of
the complex.
When the elevator reached the top, Vega walked into the central
command, and sat in the large, plush chair in the center of the room.
Three doors; one in front of Vega, one to his left and one to his
right, opened and his trusted sub-lords entered the room.
The first sub-lord, was a large black man with a buzz cut and
wearing a blue tank top with blue shorts. He also had white boots on
his feet and red boxing gloves on his hands. His face carried the
battle scars of one who had done his time in the boxing ring and his
small, black eyes seemed to barely hide the violence that had gotten
him perminantly banned from the boxing world.
M.Bison.
The second sub-lord was thin and muscular with golden hair that
shimmered as it pooled around his shoulders. He was shirtless, with
purple pants with gold trim and a gold sash tucked in the right side,
as well as black boots. He wore a silver mask over his face and the
low light in the room glinted malevolently over the triple row of
claws he wore over his right hand. His most prominent feature was
the purple snake tattoo that wrapped from the top of his chest, all
the way around to the small of his back. He walked as if he believed
himself to be the most beautiful thing alive.
Balrog.
The third and final sub-lord was a man who towered over the others.
Clad only in blue with red trim fighting trunks, he was by far the
second most dangerous man in Shadowlaw. His right eye, or lack
thereof, was covered by a black eye patch. He had a hawk-like nose,
giving him a regal, if brutal, look. His muscular chest and stomach
were covered by a gigantic scar that went from the left side of his
stomach, all the way up to his right shoulder. What little light
there was, glistened off his bald head. His ankles and fists were
wrapped up in white tape and the frown on his face, spoke volumes of
his disgust at having fallen so low from his position as a national
hero in Thailand's kick boxing circuit.
Sagat.
The three sub-lords gathered around their master and kneeled.
"Report," Vega said, "Have you found the man I'm looking for?"
"The America's are a no go," Bison said, "Either he's not there, or
he's in a desert or a rain forest."
"Then send men into those," Vega snarled, "I want you to check
EVERYWHERE."
"Of course, master," Bison said apologetically, "I'll get right on
it."
"Europe and Australia are negative too," Balrog said, his voice
muffled by his mask, "We have heard reports of him being sighted
there, but they are somewhat outdated. However, they indicate that
he may be heading for Asia."
"Then he has not reached there yet," Sagat said, "There has been no
word."
"If you do receive word," Vega said, "Notify me immediately. I want
this fighter... this Ryu, as soon as possible. I need him for..."
In Tokyo, Sakura had just said the magic words to trigger her
transformation for the first time.
Vega trailed off, turning his head to the right, seeming to look
through the wall, as Psycho Power began to gather around his form.
"Enemy..." he grunted as his eyes glowed red, "Enemy... Reborn..."
The Psycho Power grew in intensity, running up and down his entire
frame, the crackling sound and smell of burning ozone putting fear
into the hearts of his subordinates.
"Enemy..." Vega growled, his Psycho Power suddenly joined by a
darker, more evil, more powerful strength, "Reborn... Must...
DESTROY!!!!"
The combined Psycho and Dark Power exploded in a flash of light,
whipping up a large wind and causing the three sub-lords to cover
their eyes and look away. When the light faded and the wind died
down, Vega was now standing, as the unleashing of his power had
turned the metal and leather chair into nothing more than a pile of
dust. He smiled an evil, full toothed smirk as he turned his head to
look at Bison and said, "I have a new mission for you."
[TOKYO]
The magic light faded and Sakura opened her eyes. "I..." she said,
"I feel... different."
"You are," Luna replied, "Take a look."
Sakura stared at her reflection in the lake. For a moment, she'd
thought that nothing had changed, however another, closer look, told
a different story.
Her uniform shirt was now a lot tighter and her belly didn't show
when she leaned over, however it did display another part of her
anatomy quite nicely and could it have been possible... yes, she'd
gone up a cup size. The red bow in between her cleavage and the red
choker with the small crescent moon were nice touches too...
Her gloves were still red, but they'd extended down until they
reached her elbows, though they were still finger less. Her skirt
was a few centimeters shorter then usual and she hoped she still had
her gym shorts on underneath. The red bow on the small of her back
shook slightly at her every movement. Her sneakers had become knee
high boots, but she felt as if she could walk in them easily.
On her forehead, there rested a golden tiara with a small red jewel
in the center. She now had a crescent moon earring in each ear now
as well.
"Incredible," she whispered, "I feel filled with some new kind of
power..."
"That is part of what happens when you're a Sailor Senshi," Luna
said, "All of your natural abilities are enhanced along with the
magical abilities you will learn of later."
"I'm gonna go try this out!" Sakura yelled before she jumped into a
tree branch and proceeded to jump from tree to tree, towards the city
lights.
"Hey!" Luna called out as she sprinted off in pursuit, "What do you
think you're doing?!"
[TEN MINUTES LATER]
Luna was exhausted. How did, even with her Senshi enhanced
capabilities, this child keep running so fast? It had been a nonstop
chase ever since they had reached buildings and Sakura had decided to
go roof hopping. The girl laughed and cheered every time that she
leaped up into the air and landed on the next rooftop. Occasionally,
she would even jump two rooftops at once. That girl was crazy!
Sakura was in heaven. This was just so incredible! How many years
of training would it have taken before she would have been able to do
this? What did this mean for her special attacks?
Sakura stopped. What DID it mean for her special attacks? Well,
there was only one way to find out.
Luna came to a stop next to her, deciding to catch her breath before
chewing her out.
Sakura ran forward for a short distance, then leaped into the air
with her Sho-O-Ken...
... and went almost thirty feet into the sky. She screamed, "YA-
HOOOOOO!" as she spun around in midair and landed on her feet.
Luna was astonished at that, but even more astonished as Sakura
leapt into the air again even higher this time, spun around with her
foot extended and cried, "SHUNPUKYAKU!"
Sakura landed on her feet again and took a deep breath, wondering
how her Hadoken had been affected. Seeing what Sakura was about to
do, Luna said, "There's no need for that. You've got something with
more power and range on your forehead."
"Huh?" Sakura asked.
"Your tiara," Luna instructed, "Take it off, aim it up at the air
and cry out, 'Moon Tiara Action'."
Sakura nodded and reached for her forehead. However, when her hands
touched the piece of jewelry, golden lightning exploded from it and
ran down all of Sakura's body. Luna covered up her eyes and cried
out, "Sailor Moon! Are you okay?"
"I... I..." Sakura tried to reply as a strange feeling filled her
gut, "I... I need to shoot..."
Without another word, Sakura brought her arms into the opening
position for the Hadoken and began the motions. This time, the blue
ki balls were intermixed with golden, magically powered ones. Sakura
repeated the motions five times, before she felt that little jolt
inside her. She brought her hands close together and to the side,
letting the energy ball grow stronger there. She inverted the
position of her hands and reared back to throw as the blue energy
ball suddenly became a brilliant gold.
"TSUKIHADOKEN!"
The TsukiHadoken blasted away like a golden bat out of hell from her
extended hands. The energy ball traveled up... up... up, finally
reaching a large cloud obscuring the moon... and piercing it so
totally that it disintegrated into small wisps. The energy ball
faded from sight.
"Holy..." was all Sakura could whisper.
[AN HOUR LATER]
"Are you sure it will be okay?" Luna asked, "You don't have anyone
allergic to cats in the house, do you?"
"Nah," Sakura, who had detransformed, said, strangely depressed,
"They won't care."
Sakura turned the key in the lock and pushed open the door, entering
the dark house with Luna walking in behind her. "Where is everybody?
" Luna asked, "I mean, we were out pretty late, aren't they worried?
"
In reply, Sakura said, "They always wanted a boy."
Luna blinked and, asking what she meant all the way, followed Sakura
into her room.
The cat was a bit surprised, to say the least, when she found the
school girl just sitting on the bed, staring out the window at the
full moon in the sky. "You should have seen them on the day when
Kenji, my little brother, was born," Sakura said suddenly, "They were
so happy."
Luna was getting a bad feeling about this...
Just then, there came a knock at the door and a small voice said,
"Sis... can I come in?"
Sakura was suddenly all smiles as she turned to the door and called
out, "Sure, come in."
The door opened and Kenji, a small boy with brown hair and eyes, and
wearing a white t-shirt and jean shorts, shuffled over to the bed
where Sakura sat, a package and an envelope in his hands.
"What's up?" Sakura asked, "Can't sleep?"
"These are for you," Kenji said as he held out the envelope and
package.
Sakura opened the envelope and pulled out a small sheet of paper.
She read it and then... tears formed in her eyes. She began to sob
uncontrollably and threw her arms around her brother, crying
hysterically.
Luna read the letter... and her bad feeling got a lot worse.
It read,
<Dear Sister,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Love,
Kenji>
[OUTSIDE TOKYO]
He was a man dressed in a white karate gi. The sleeves on his gi
were ripped. He had short reddish black hair. His black eyes
radiated calm.
His stoney face and muscular body seemed surprisingly free of
visible scars for one who had dedicated his life to The Fight. The
white bandana he wore on his forehead was damp with sweat.
His name was Ryu.
He didn't know why he had suddenly felt this urge to come to Tokyo,
but who knew... maybe he'd find a worthy foe or two to fight.
