Can anyone tell me Gendou's real last name?

Uhm...Ikari. Being Shinji's father and all.

**ERRRRRRRRRRRR**  Wrong answer....  Ikari Yui and Rokubungi Gendo.

He took her name.  I'm not too sure about the cultural implications, but 
IIRC, that has something to do with honor, although I'm not too sure if 
the man loses face, or the woman gains for the act.

But from what I know about Eva, Gendo couldn't really lose anymore honor 
from changing his family name.
