I thought Ranma-onna's height was same as Akane's?
Takahashi draws them standing side by side on numerous occasions, so
Ranma's shrinkage in height is pretty blatant.
Interesting. I made a quick check, and it seems to me that you're
right. Ranma
indeed starts out being three inches taller than Akane at start, and
gradually
shrinks to Akane's height. However, I can't confirm being three inches
shorter
than her because the latest manga I had was volume 34 and 36. The side
by side
postions are not really dependable in them because one of them were
usually
slightly behind other, which can disort the perception slightly. I
can't be
sure then.
The question is: How to account for three-inch (or six if Onna's
shorter than
Akane) shrinkage in less than a year? Perhaps it's curse that's still
'incomplete'? Maybe it needed some time for the cursed body to adjust
to the
host's body. That could explain Ranma-onna's gradual height decline, as
well
her bust growth (I loved that bust battle part- so hilarous!).
This could serve as nice story to use in a fanfic. Something about
diffuclties
in adjusting to the new changes. Maybe Panda-Genma suddenly gains
another 150
pounds and he becomes too fat to jump, so he becomes a practice-dummy
for
Ranma.
I don't quite agree with this. By my estimate, Ranma-kun is
approximately average height for a Japanese male of his age, and
Ranma-chan starts out about two or three centimeters shorter than Akane.
I have all of the manga volumes, and I do not notice much difference in
Ranma-chan's height over time. However, if there is a difference, it is
probably because Takahashi wanted to visually emphasize the difference
between Ranma's two bodies. I estimate Ranma-kun as 165cm and Ranma-chan
as thirteen or fourteen centimeters shorter, based on comparing their
heights against Akane's.
