Earlier this year, I was asked by Paul Gallegos to participate in a
project with a number of talented writers.

  Gee, thanks, don't *I* feel better. 

    "So what can you do?" his father asked angrily.  The other
man just stared in a way that made Tatewaki's stomach hurt.

  Something about "stomach hurt" bothers me. 

    "If you can't help her, then I want to talk to someone who
can!  Now, do you hear?"  Kodachi was starting to tremble, her hand

  New paragraph after "hear?". 

feeling tiny and frail in his, and he wished desperately for this to 

stop.

  'End' might be a better word than 'stop.' 

    "No," he said at last.  "Not today.  Perhaps tomorrow."
Tatewaki tried hard to hide his disappointment.  Father had brought

    "My poem is next week," Kodachi said suddenly.  

  Gads, how that quote makes little sense. 

    "My poem," she repeated, her delicate features set in a serious
mask.  "The whole class had to write one, and the parents are
supposed to come hear us read them.  Mother was going to come.

  Oh. A recital? 

    "Did she?" Father asked.  Tatewaki frowned.  Kodachi
shouldn't be talking to father about something like this.  This was

  Capitalize "father"

    "Well, then, she'll be there," he said simply.  A spark of
animation appeared in Kodachi's eyes.

  Something about this 'spark of animation' thing really bothers me. It 
just doesn't sound right....

  Ah, heck, why do I bother? 

   Well, that was my entry in the Preludes cycle.  Hope you liked it.  

I

realize it's sort of a different take on the Kunou family's particular 

brand

of eccentricity, after all.  In the process of getting inside the 

character's

heads, I confess to taking more than a few liberties, so let the end 

result be

judged accordingly.

  Very... interesting (gads, that last statement there reminds me too 
much of Shakespeare). 

   And let me just say that I was flattered to be asked to participate 

in

this project, considering the talented authors involved, and I look 

forward

  This is where you're wrong; we're ALL talented (the difference, of 
course, is in degree of talent, but let's not divulge into that one).
