this is only because of the ppl, who in the past, broke through the
barriers of characterization.. made it acepptable to ignore canon Ranma,
and write what we feel.. this was the second wave of Ranma authors.. those
who read what the first ppl did.. and then decided it DIDN'T have to be
that way.. another reason for this was that Ranma wasn't well known at the
time, ppl sould make mistakes about characterization, but would write well
enough that it didn't really matter.. it has led to a problem, that we, the
newest generation of Ranma authors, even after seeing alot more of it than
was available to the first wave, have used their work as canon.. rather

I will agree that lately there have been way too many Ranma crossovers, Yes I
shouldn't be the one to speak but it has become harder and harder to find a
nitch where an author can write an original fanfic theme.  BGC is a bit
restrictive when writing a fic, so are a few other series as well.  There are
just not enough information to go around.  Crossovers open up possibilities
that never existed or if it did, writing about it would not help much due to
lack of believability.  

all it requires is someone to break past those barriers i spoke about
earlier.. it's been done for SM, Tenchi, UY, and now Eva.. you'll know it's
happening when you see an otherwise happy anime being the basis of a dark
fic :)

I might be wrong but somethimes being the first to write a fanfic about a new
series is a bit hard.  With Ranma and SM there are many out there and people
can be inspired by other poeple's work.  Some author will write and hope for
C&C from readers and usually new series which people know little or nothing
about will not create a release or encouragment to the author.  

i always thought it was the opposite.. if you take a series that many ppl
know, but nobody write.. your almost guarenteed alot of c&c.. Goldenboy,
VGAI, and others.. anime everyone (most pl anyways) have seen.. but no one
write them.. because they think no one else likes them.. for the reason
that no one writes them.. 

I do have to agree with Pmasters though on the issue of new blood, new

series.

We can only take Ranma, SM, EVA, BGC, and TM so far before there will be
repeats in theme and plot.

repeats are fine... it's all in the treatment..
