All of these bits are examples of SIs that one does *not* want to have to go
through. If anybody knows a better example of any of these, send me the URL
please.
And if any of these strike you as something workable, tell me...I may let you
do it, or I might end up doing it myself.
1. Raw power vs. Knowing how to use it.
I thought this was going to be fun. I was going to be with my favorite
characters from my favorite anime and I was going to be more powerful then all
of them.
I wasn't ready for *this.*
I'm not sure how to really describe it. Sure, I felt powerful and all could
tell that I was the most powerful there. But I had this nagging feeling that
I would have been better off going for a modest power level and knowledge of
how to control it...
I wish that I had paid attention to that nagging little feeling.
2. Fate has a sick sense of humor. (Or, if you prefer, Fate is a hack and
she writes black comedy.)
a.
So I'm powerful. So I know how to use it. So I know stuff about everyone
here that I shouldn't.
I'd rather know who I am.
b.
I ran. I ignored my brain's snide comments about the wisdom, and the lack of
the same, necessary to mess around with Cologne's spice cabinet...
I just wanted to *live.*
3. Be careful what you wish for
I should have listened to my mother's advice: to be careful what I wished
for, because I might just get it.
As you can see, I totally ignored her.
I guess that it started when I found that weird-looking back scratcher.
It was a nice day, and I was walking a friend's dog. Well, it's more like
the dog was walking me, but I digress.
He dragged me into a local park and insisted I play catch. So, stupid lil'
ol' me, I pick up this stick and throw it. He comes back, makes me throw the
d*mn stick again, and we go on like this for a while.
Well, I got bored and so I faked a toss. The dumb dog ran off and I looked
at the stick. It looked like a monkey's paw. I guess that should have clued
me in, but it didn't. I tucked the thing in my backpack, rounded up the dog,
and dragged him home.
About a few hours later, I was peacefully watching anime and playing destroy
the stick with my cat. I was using, as you can guess, the same stick I picked
up in the park.
Well, I voiced an idle wish - I don't remember anymore what I wished. The
thing scratched at the air and next thing I knew I was 20 feet above Jusenkyo,
with my cat, and descending rapidly.
