I watched the first parts of Dragon
Ball a while back.  No big deal,
a lot of you have done that.  And
most of you know, how most of the
names in that series are puns, and
jokes of one form or another, that
only knowledge of the Japanese Language
and culture readily reveal.  But sometimes,
the translation of a more or less innocent
passage into other languages, ends with
a double meaning that may not have been
there before.  To wit:

In the Beginning of Dragon Ball, where
Bulma first encounters Goku, she decides
to give him a bath, and gets a surprise.
She's astonished about his tail, and
Goku's surprised to find out that _she_
doesn't have one.  Didn't everybody
have a tail?  Bulma remarks, that girls
certainly _do_ not have a tail, and puts
forth the idea, that only _boys_ have
tails.  Later on in the story, when
the giant tortise and Goku try to figure
out why Bulma is so riled, Goku asks 
the Tortise, if girls were like that
where he came from.  The tortise replys,
"NO, they have tails."

If your still reading, your most likely 
saying, so what.  Well, I've been living
in Germany the past years, and while watching
a english dub, I idly translated the dialouge
into german.  In german, the word for tail,
is "Schwanz".  A perfectly normal word, except
for the fact, "Schwanz" is also a slang term for
the male sex organ.  So, watch those two 
scenes again, and substitute "prick" for
everytime the word "tail" is used.

I still can't keep a straight face whenever
I think about it.
