While I believe that it "technically" shouldn't be too much work to get
one's story in as part of the email's body, that isn't always the case. 

Some programs just won't accept anything "big". And "cut&paste" doesn't
always cut it.

I personally, use Pine. And it's great because I an just "read" files in
from the text file I'm working on. But if I happened to be writing my
story under Windows, the situation changes quite a bit. Some programs
won't let you simply launch an email with the body the size of a hippo.

Worse yet, some writers may have mail servers which won't let email bodies
past a certain size get through. 

And there might even be some writers who only get a chance to send out
their posts via a web browser because web-mail is all they have access to.

In which case, they're doing what they can, and calling them "lazy" does
not help. If they take the trouble to post a story they've written, one
can hardly call that "lazy". 

Of course, if you happen to not want your fic read, then go ahead and
post attachments. Everyone will probably be just as happy to delete it
as they would to read it.

While I'm inclined to not read posts which are formed up by attachments of
non-text forms, I don't delete them. When I do have more time to convert
formats, I do so. It just doesn't get priority. 

In anycase, just my two cents. I hope I haven't made any blanket
statements which might have implied that my beliefs were some kind of
established fact that others abide by or something.

PS. On the flip side, under a unix environment, one might wonder if it
would be so much bother to edit the mailcap so lynx or something else
opens the attachment in an Xwindows environment...
