What 30K limit? That sounds like an end-user software problem. You
can
always GNU split or csplit and have it chop the file into parts pipe it
into mail.
Lazy people like me absolutely HATE looking for multi-part stories
chopped up like this (heaven forbid you let the COMPUTER do it for you;
imagine a rather important passage cut in mid-sentence, and ruins the
rest of the fic for you).
And, unlike you, I suppose, people like me DO have a 30k message size
limit, and as a hotmail user there's NOTHING I can do about it.

There are a number of utilities here that authors can make good use out
of on their files before posting to make sure they are formatted
correctly and the right size.
That assumes the programs are of any use and can be used by the
occasional net jock.
