Half-brother.  And Aeka specifically said that there was nothing strange
about it on Jurai (though presumably it's still not the norm).  Why should
you expect them to conform to Earth mores?

The only practical reason against it is the genetic risk.  One might
speculate that the Juraians can deal with this, however.
