Notes: Even though the story sort-of leaves you hanging, I'm not doing a sequel.
The idea for this story came from a beautifully writen children's story about a
girl named Angela who one day wakes up and finds out she has wings
unexpectedily. She has no idea where the wings came from and is very worried how
others would perceive it. I've taken that and added a twist, and as you'll see,
perception doesn't mean a thing except to the viewer. (I also get these idea
during Diff Eq class while the professor is explaining how life is like a
Laplace transformation. Very painful.)
	Wings
	A Ranma 1/2 Story.
Tendo Akane flopped around the futon one morning, just before the sun
rose. She felt her back ache a bit. Probably from the bashing she gave Ranma
yesterday. Still, the spunky 16-year-old giggled a bit to remember how funny
Ranma looked everytime she whacked him with her mallet. She moved her head to
the sides, imitating how Ranma tried to avoid her mallet of doom. She smiled as
she noticed two big feathers tickling her back...she stood up. Gasped. And ran
to the full-length mirror towards the door.
There, she saw two wings. Wings that had seemed to grown from her back.
They were pure dove white wings with red-ruby tips that graced the top third of
the wings. She blinked for a bit.
"Bwee?" P-chan walked up towards Akane. In her mad dash to see these new
features, she threw P-chan towards the far side of the room. He looked at the
mirror in amazement to see her beautiful, brilliant wings, and then noticed that
he had a pair of his own. White as Akane's, but the tips were golden instead of
the ruby-red that Akane had.
Akane was just as surprised as P-chan when she saw her piggy's wings.
	"P-chan!" She whispered.
	"Bwee?"
"My darling piggy, you have wings just like me!" Akane smiled as she
quietly laughed. "Well, I guess I can't use the expression, 'When Pigs Fly'
again."
P-chan nodded. Akane held the pig next to her as she thought about all
of the possibilities of what would happen if this secret was out.
There was the typical Soun's response:
"My dear daughter is an angel...just like her precious mother!
Waaaahhh!"
Then there was the vision about her sister Nabiki, showing her in a
freak-show: As if she was a ring-master, she'd say, "Ladies and Gentlemen...I
present to you my sister! The only girl in the world with angel wings, and her
pet pig, P-chan. Now, you can say you've seen pigs fly! Only 150 yen per person,
limit one trip please!"
Akane shuddered just thinking about being a slave to her sister for
life.
But that was nothing compared to the realisation if it was discovered at
school: The girls, as she could imagine Shampoo's response, "Angel? Violent girl
no angel...more like demon!"
The typical guys response Akane imagined would be: "Wings? Wow, cool!
Can you fly or somethin' right?"
Then there was Kuno's response: "Egads, the fair Akane is no longer a
mere mortal, but a creature beyond what mere words could describe, but I shall
try! I wish to have thee as angel for life!"
However, when she thought about Ranma, one of two thoughts came out. One
was Ranma would say, "Akane...those wings make you a tomboy no longer."
Or the more typical response of, "Great, now you'll fly around and spy
on me more often, right tomboy?!"
The only thing running through P-chan's mind was, "Wings? Great. Now
I'll get lost faster. Maybe I should learn about aviation."
Akane and P-chan flapped their wings, and soon got themselves to fly
around the room. Akane quietly giggled at the feat.
After the brief enjoyment, Akane took a look at P-chan and said,
"P-chan, we're going to have to keep this between you and me, okay? I'm gonna
have to see if this is permanent or not."
	"Bwee?"
"Yeah, I wonder if a little hot water will change things."
	P-chan shook his head frantically.
"You don't think so? Well, let's see, shall we?"
Akane opened the door, making sure no one else was up. She streaked to
the bathroom and sat P-chan down on the table. Immediately P-chan tried to flap
away from Akane, but she firmly grabbed the pig back down on the table.
With one hand, she grabbed a bowl, filled it with hot water and splashed
it on P-chan.
	Instant boy, with wings.
Akane almost started to scream, but bit her tongue. Instead, she
squeezed his neck and whispered in his ear, "Ryouga! You stupid pervert! How
could spend all of this time being my pet pig and sleeping with me?!"
"Well, if you stop choking me, maybe I'll tell you," Ryouga gasped.
Akane did, and Ryouga started to tell the story. But it was the same old
story that most Ranma fans are familiar with, with the typical "it was Ranma's
fault" ending.
Meanwhile, Kasumi had been looking at her set of new wings, wondering a
lot of things about them, especially about whether or not they were clean or
not.
They were white, with emerald green tips. She started to flap them, and
soon she was flying around the room, bumping into the walls, but no enough to
wake up Nabiki. Finally, when Kasumi figured out how to land, she looked at
them, and smiled.
Kasumi then imagined her flying around the house sweeping the rooms,
ceilings, and every window in the house; cleaning the floors without even
setting a foot on the ground; repairing the roof; building an addition to the
existing house like she saw on _This Old Dojo_. Yes, she could do a lot with her
new set of wings.
However, as she thought more about her wings, there were a few
drawbacks. Nabiki could sell her to a circus, but that wasn't too likely since
Nabiki hadn't sold anyone in the family in years, and usually relatives that no
one liked, with Kasumi's discretion, of course.
Kasumi looked a little bit more concerned as she visualised her father's
response.
	"Mommieeee!"
Then there was Dr. Tofu's response.
Either he would stop dancing around like a fool, or...
"Kasumi...my goddess...!" Foomp! Kasumi shook her head as she could
imagine him losing it right there and spontaneously combust. Clearly she had to
find a way to hide the wings, for now. She started to look in her closet for
appropiate clothing.
Ranma promptly opened up the window and kicked his father outside. After
making sure he was still a sleep -- he was a heck of a sleeper, especially in
the summer-like weather they were having -- he closed the windows. He felt his
new wings, they felt silky to the touch. Now he had to admit that his wings were
for real. He turned back to his mirror and looked at those wings. White wings
with sapphire blue tips.
"Great," he said to himself, "I'm in some kind of G-force anime. All I
need is a powersuit and I'm complete."
He shook his head as he looked at himself. He had the luxury of having
another mirror on the other side of room, just slightly off centre of the front
mirror. That way, he could take a peek at his back side. The wings looked like
they were firmly attached to muscle and bone tendons. The wings were big, very
big, but they could easily wrap around him and he guessed that no one would
notice if he wore his usual Chinese jumper suit.
He blinked as he could imagine the typical responses would be if somehow
the secret got out.
"Now, Ryouga, Mousse, and every other guy would attack me more often. I
wonder if flying would make me have an unfair advantage, not that I wouldn't
mind having that advantage. Akane, however, would probably say something, 'You
pervert! Now you'll find more ways of being a pervert!' Or something like that.
Geeze, you'd think Akane would understand.
"However," he added, "I could see Kuno cursing me saying somethin' like,
'Forsoothe, thou art a demon of the worst kind, and I shall smite thee!' That
would be interesting, but if I was his pig-tailed goddess, it be like, 'Oh, you
are my pig-tailed goddess with those heavily wings!'"
He paced around the room a bit.
"But, Kodachi would probably say the same thing, a-aand Ukyou and
Shampoo would too. I mean they'd probably say something like, 'Oh...Ran-chan,
you've always been an angel to me!' Or 'Shampoo likes wings very much.' And I'm
not even gonna think what Kodachi would say to me...or Pops. Heck Pops would
probably sell me to a freak show for money or food," groaned Ranma. "I've got to
hide these wings!"
As Ranma started to look into his wardrobe, Ryouga had finished
explaining to Akane his tale of woe. Akane glared at him as she slapped him.
Hard. Twice. Ryouga nodded, expecting that.
"Now, do you have some clothes to get into? I don't want you and I to be
chatting naked like this!" she hissed.
"Uh, yeah, but I don't remember where I left it," Ryouga blushed.
"Wait a minute, didn't you appear last night from my closet?"
	"Yeah...why?"
"There's a leak in the roof over the closet, and it was raining last
night. Your stuff is probably in my closet."
"Right. So, how are we suppose to get back into the room naked like this
without anyone else noticing?"
Akane stopped glaring at Ryouga. She blinked and said, "You know, I
don't know how we could. We need a distraction."
"Why don't I go out first and see if anyone's around. And then you'll
take me to your room and we can get dressed."
"Good idea, except I'll peek out first. And then I'll drag you out,
okay?"
	"Fine," meekly replied Ryouga.
Akane popped her head out, and looked around. There was no one there.
She yanked Ryouga and rushed to her room.
Nabiki heard the noise, but only poked her head out nervously. She then
quietly closed the door and returned to staring at her wings.
They were not white, but an array of gem-like crystals that possibly
could blend in, but not likely. And based on how the room, ceiling, floors,
steel beams had nicks from her huge wings, Nabiki could only guess that it was
as hard as a diamond, if not harder. And unlike the other wings, which were
bird/angel-like these wings were butterfly-shaped. She reminded herself of that
erotic porcelain fairy she saw that the Sex Museum in Amsterdam last summer.
"Nabiki," she said to herself, "you...look...beautiful. I...I could
steal some of Akane's admirers away to me...wait. What am I saying?"
She paced around a bit, thinking about the situation. Then she sighed
and calmly looked at herself again. "I look pretty good. I work out, I know a
couple of drills. Kami-sama only knows what I've learned from watching everyone
at this dojo. And now having a set of wings?"
She then quieted as she realised a little something. If her little
secret were revealed, she'd hear no end of it from her family, Ranma, and other
friends.
"And here is our former boss, the fairy Nabiki displaying her magical
wings!" she imagined her cohorts and henchladies singing at a very discontented
and shameful Tendo Nabiki.
Nabiki shook that imagine off. "No way in hell are they going to turn on
me like that," she growled.

Breakfast at the Tendo household was very quiet. Very subdued. Very
tenseful for everyone except Genma and Soun, who were very clueless this
morning, not noticing how heavily dressed everyone else was. Everyone else
looked at each other, saying nothing.
As they were eating their rice, Thai style, (rather soupy, not sticky)
Soun looked up and finally saw Ryouga.
"Ryouga? What a surprise! What are you doing here this morning? Aren't
you going to be a little warm in that shirt?"
"Oh, I found him lost in our bathroom," blurted out Akane before Ryouga
could even say "This is your dining room?" Kasumi, Nabiki and Ranma blinked
simultaneously.
Soun went back to his eating and crying at the same time (practising for
the next disaster, you'd never know when the next crisis would happen).
Ryouga, who was sitting next to Ranma leaned over and whispered, "Uh,
Ranma? You can have Akane. She discovered my secret this morning."
Ranma nodded. He noticed his father finishing up his food and salivating
over Ranma's bowl of mushed rice.
"Um, She thought I needed a bath this morning and she gave me a hot
bath. She started to strangle my neck, but, uh, I told the whole story. And
she'll forgive you, um later."
Ranma nodded. He looked over, and saw that Nabiki was too nervous to
notice and Kasumi was as clueless as ever.
Genma decided it was time to take Ranma's food. He raised up his hands,
readying for a fight. However, he missed Ranma but was able to split the pepper
shaker in half, spraying the pepper everywhere.
	"Waachhooo!"
Like a bunch of four-year-olds opening gifts simultaneously on
Christmas-day, the winged people felt their shirts rip open and their wings
unfold.
Soun choked on his food and fell over. Or fainted, it was hard to say.
Genma looked up, saw the wings and blinked. Ranma kicked him into the
pond, allowing him to eat his food first.
Then, everyone remaining at the table gazed in awe at Nabiki's wings,
which dazzled in the sunlight.
Ranma looked at Ryouga and Akane. Akane gazed at her sisters, especially
Nabiki. Kasumi blinked at everyone, amazed at what she was seeing.
	"Oh, my," Ryouga finally whispered.
"T-this is quite unexpected," Nabiki said slowly, trying to make herself
breathe again.
Soun finally swallowed his food and started to cry. "My daughters, all
have beautiful wings! And my son-in-law! And his arch-rival! WAAAAAAAHHHH!
Mommieee!!!"
"Somehow, I figured he'd do that," muttered Akane.
"Yeah, but how will the rest of Nerima take it," said Nabiki.
Then there was a crash coming through the kitchen.
	"Nihao! Ranma, where are you?"
	Everyone stared at Nabiki.
"Me and my big mouth," muttered Nabiki.
"Ranma? Shampoo...aiya..." Shampoo stared at the five winged people,
dropped her drug-laced ramen lunch and blinked a couple of times. Genma by this
time had dried himself off and slid on the floor towards the ramen and ate it.
	"Hi, Shampoo," smiled Ranma.
"Since when do Ranma get pretty wings?" asked Shampoo.
"This morning actually," said Akane before Ranma could blurt out, "And
you'd think my pig-tail was lovely too, right?"
"Shampoo sees. Well, Shampoo has lunch ramen for---" she looked down to
see a very small panda hugging her leg. Clearly this was the wrong formula.
"Never mind. Ranma's father ate ramen."
	"And?" asked Ranma.
"Now panda is 10 centimetres high," Shampoo sighed. "And molesting
Shampoo's leg."
Nabiki smiled. This could be useful. Her father finally stopped crying
and got up.
Kasumi said, "Oh, my, Shampoo, you've really screw it up big time!"
Everyone looked back at Kasumi. Down went Soun!
"Well, it's obvious Shampoo wanted to make Ranma love crazy for her, but
she didn't realise the side-effect that it would shrink the person, and I saw
that lazy, good-for-nothing Mr. Saotome slide in and eat the ramen. Oh, my...I
feel different."
Nabiki then started to laugh, really, really hard.
Akane and Ranma started to realise what was going on and started to
giggle as well.
Shampoo looked at them, and saying, "What? What? What Shampoo do?"
"No, oh, no, it's not you, it's that Kasumi has actually realised what's
been going on in the last ten minutes," laughed Nabiki. She then turned to
Kasumi. "You know, I liked that 'lazy, good for nothing' part."
	Ryouga blinked.
"Wow. I don't think I've heard Nabiki laugh before."
	Everyone stopped laughing.
Kasumi gasped. She got up, ran into the kitchen and came out with some
water. She dumped the water onto Shampoo and tossed the cat to Ranma.
"Ranma? Shouldn't you be running around the room or something?" said
Akane as she leaned in towards Ranma.
"I...I don't feel that shaking that I usually do...Shampoo, will ya stop
playing with my wings?"
	"Mew?"
"No, Shampoo. You aren't going to marry me. I love Akane, okay?" Ranma
looked up and blushed. "Did I just say what I thought I said?"
	"Ranma...you mean it?" said Akane.
"Um, I guess so. Will ya quit playing with my wings, Shampoo? What is
with cats and wings?"
Then there was a telephone call. Kasumi went up and get it.
Akane felt her silky white wings. She trembled slight as she turned to
her sister.
"What's happening to us, Nabiki? I mean, you and Kasumi, and Ranma?"
"Sis, if I knew, I'd tell you. I woudn't even ask for anything."
	"Really?"
"Yeah. I really don't know why we're acting unnatural or where these
wings came from, in fact, I don't think anyone does?"
Kasumi put down the receiver. "It's that American that's living across
the street. Does anyone know how to get to Mrs. Yokohama's house?"
"It's three blocks east of here, right across from the hot spa facility.
Tell him that he can't miss it," Ryouga said.
	Kasumi blinked. "Y-you're sure, Ryouga?"
"Yeah, I'm sure. My house is a block away further from there. Say, isn't
your mom's house across from that spa?"
	"Yeah, I think so."
"Ryouga, which way is east?" asked Kasumi. He pointed to his left.
"That's easy, alright," Nabiki said. "Oh, my..."
	"Meow?"
"Shampoo, I'll get you some hot water as soon as you stop playing with
my wings, okay? I mean, geeze, now you're playing with my pig-tail! Stop that!"
	Genma climbed on the table.
"Hey, son? Will you get that cat-girl to tell me where's the antidote? I
don't want to be this small for the rest of my pitiful life! Then I want to
marry her!" he wrote on various signs.
"Nah," smiled Ranma as he took Shampoo into the kitchen. His wings
knocked Genma on the floor. Akane and Ryouga followed Ranma.
"Say, Ranma, do you think I can make lunch now?"
"Well, if I can overcome that neko-ken by having wings, I'm sure you can
make a five-course meal from scratch. Wait, forget I said that."
Kasumi finally got off the phone and sat down with her sister.
"You know, when Father gets up, he's going to clean the house today. And
then he'll make me lunch. I just have this feeling that those wings are...are
making me think differently, Nabiki," said Kasumi.
Nabiki nodded too, as thoughts about today's profit died down, replaced
by this urge to be friendly. She wondered if Kuno would mind if she nailed him,
a couple of times. She blinked as she realised the hentai thoughts she was
having.
"Uh, yeah. Say, I wonder if we're the only ones that have these wings?"
	******
Meanwhile, in a temple far, far away, a young boy is snuggled up with
his girlfriend and her two sisters. Up above him on the ceiling was a full color
picture of him winning the Motorcross 500 of Japan with his girlfriend, even
though the photographer clearly centred the entire picture on the girl's younger
and much, much more sexier sister.
An alarm clock beeped, and the youngest sister smashed it with a mallet.
She went back to sleep.
The much, much sexier sister moved her hands up and down the boy's back,
even through she didn't want him. He was cute, but kind of tall for him. She
then felt something unusual, unusual because she already had a pair of wings of
her own. And she was a goddess.
	"Say...Keiichi?" the white-haired goddess whispered.
"W..whaa? Oh, Urd. It's just you. I can't believe we all did that last
night," he groaned.
	"Um, we've got a problem."
"What's that? Skuld is eating ice-cream in bed again?"
	The other girl stirred.
"Urd, what are you whispering about?"
"Sorry, Belldandy, but I think Keiichi grew some wings last night."
"W-wings? Like the kind we have?"
	"Yeah."
Keiichi rose up and felt his back. Then he saw himself in the mirror,
with the white wings with pink trim.
	"Belldandy?"
	"Yes, Keiichi?"
	"You have wings, right?"
"All god and goddess do, Keiichi. But not like that."
Keiichi sighed. "Then, this is going to be a long day. Can you teach me
how to fly, Bell-chan?"
