If you are looking for a straightforwards tale of moral instruction,

The title character (in no sense an "Obnoxious Goddess") is the goddess
Skuld, literally on the side of the angels.  Well, except for her own
angel, that little pest.  A pure and righteous daughter of The Lord, Skuld
has started on a classic career path for a Japanese hero, slaying Oni.

While it's true that the first Oni-devil (er demon) to fall before her
wrath was something of an accident, this is OK, because she was actually
aiming at another Oni.  The reasons she would use letal force against
her best friend and daughter of her foster family, certainly have nothing
to do with lust, jealousy or envy.  As a goddess, Skuld is far above such
things.

As we move into the second volume of this story, the evil Oni demoness Lum
moves in and the struggle between good and evil, Law and Chaos, is brought
to a personal level, but never fear, good will triumph over evil and right
will prove its might over wrong.  Just as soon as they can be clearly
distinguished.
