Is it sarcastic drivel though? I can see a purpose to it. Bogue would
seem to me to be making fun of characterisation debates, poking fun at
some of the silly things people argue over.

So why Nicholas and Gary then? Flash backwards to a couple of months ago,
and some rather prolonged and at times nasty debates over characterisation
engendered by Nicholas' 'Iris.' I would suggest it is because of these
debates that Bogue has decided to include these two authors in his post,
because of the aforementioned arguments. 
	Giving Gary and Nicholas an inane subject to disagree on here further
enhances the idiocy that Bogue looks like he is suggesting that character
debates are (especially on the list).

If it was funnier and less vicious, it would be fine.

Less viscious? But satire is supposed to be have an edge to it. It
is supposed to be pointed, it is supposed to be viscious.
	However, fo rit to be true satire, not only do you need to
poke fun of something, but you also should include somewhere a
normative, something to replace the subject (a good example is
Swift's 'A Modest Proposal' which is a rather short piece that
wouldn't take you too long to read if you wanted to take a look
at it). Sometimes this alternative, this How It Should Be can be
subtle, and other times it can be very blatant. I think A Modest
Proposal comes under the heading of blatant.
	So, how could we turn Bogue's work into a true satire?
I think it should be obvious-- we include me! I mean, let's face
it, who wouldn't, given the chance, want to be me? ^_^
