This is the fanfic saga I've been toying around for more than a year now, but
never got around to writing until few months ago. So far, I'm not sure about
how long it is going to be. I'd say around five to eight parts. I finally
decided to post this chapter, after months of waiting.

Right now, I've completed chapters one through three, but yet have to get
started on the fourth. I'll be releasing the next two chapters gradually. For
real author's notes check the bottom. Though, I'm still not comfortable with
the title I've given to this fanfic, "Alternate Visions." I'd appreciate if
someone could come up with a more-fitting title for it, thanks.

The usual disclaimers apply here- Sailor Moon and related characters belongs
to Naoko Takeuchi, and I thank her for creating them in the first place.

I'm only inviting them for a short time. It's kinda expensive trying to feed
them all under my house considering how much money I make. ^_^;;

know how to say this, but... I think you've been studying too much, Usagi."

Alternate Visions, Chapter One:
	Alternate Visions

"Ouch, that smarts..." Ami winced as she opened her eyes, but squeezed them
shut again for a moment as lights blinded her, and reached for her throbbing
head. From a sketchy deduction, she figured that she must be in a hospital-
how else would she explain all these machines and IV line hooked up to her
arm?

"How did I end up in here? I can't remember..." She trailed off as she tried
to recall the past events and stopped abruptly. Something was wrong, but what?
Something... her hair! It had... a different feel to it when she had massaged
her head. Feeling around her hair, she noticed that hair strands seemed to be
longer, <Since when did I let my hair grow that long?> and there were two
unusual affixations to the sides of her head which resembled... *balls*?!

Ami sighed, "Okay, who've been playing tricks with my hair again?"

As she rose from her bed, she caught a glimpse of her body as her bed covers
parted. She noticed that she was wearing her usual Senshi uniform, which meant
that she should be Sailor Mercury, not Ami Mizuno. However, she also noticed
that while her uniform had the usual blue and white colors, it also had red
color. The mix of colors were all too familiar to her.

"Wait a minute, why am I wearing Sailor Moon's uniform?"

As she shifted forward for better look, two long blond pigtails swept forth
into her view. Her eyes widened in shock, "No, this can't be...!"

To compound things further, there was sounds of rustling to her right, and
she turned around and was struck dumbfounded. A blue haired Senshi rose
dazedly from her bed and glanced around before placing her eyes on Ami. Ami
had a strange feeling of dj vu- she was seeing the mirror image of herself
as Sailor Mercury. The said Mercury blinked at her for few minutes before
screaming and fainting.

Something's definitely out of hand around here, Ami thought. She looked
around the room for some clues, or something. A mirror, her eyes came across
the image of herself on it. Instead of the reflection of Sailor Mercury she
was supposed to see, she saw Sailor Moon instead.

Ami sat motionless, staring at the mirror. "What's going on?" She barely got
out before her brain finally shut itself down, unable to handle the unexpected
events.

Sailor Moon fainted just as two Senshi burst into the room.

A dark figure groaned in pain as he sat down in his dark chamber, clutching
at his arm. Things did not go as he had hoped they would. He had taken in
consideration of Senshi's appearance, even planned on it. However, something
went wrong and things just went out of his control afterwards.

It was a sheer luck that he managed to escape after that explosion, despite
heavy injuries. He would have to stay in his place for some time until he
recovered from his injuries. At least he had managed to knock several Senshi
out, too. He had overheard the news that Sailor Moon and Mercury had been
hospitalized after their unfortunate incident, under stable condition. At
least the odds between them would be even for now, though he wished that the
Senshi brats had perished. But he wasn't concerned about that.

	He lost the crystal.

Kunzite would be furious. If he was still alive, that is. He had been
murdered by Senshi prior to the final battle against Queen Beryl. He never got
the complete details of what happened afterwards, but he knew enough to
confirm that Sailor Moon and her friends had defeated Queen Beryl, as well
destroyed the Dark Kingdom.

That left him alone with a mission to do. He struggled up and activated a
small console. A sinister voice emanated from it.

"If you have received this message, then those pesky sailor brats have
defeated us. As improbable as it sounds, I am not taking chances."

The silent figure knelt, his head down, facing the screen as General
Kunzite's face spoke, relaying his fateful command for hundredth time. The
figure already knew the commands to his heart, but he continued to listen.

General Kunzite clenched his fists on the screen and growled, "If the sailor
brats are successful, and we have fallen, it will be up to you to carry on our
revenge upon them. You are our only chance, and you must not mess it up or all
of our efforts will have been wasted."

	". . ."

"I trust that I have made myself clear. Along with this message, you will
have received several crystals. Your final order are to obliterate the Sailor
Senshi. Your task is to gather energy from the pathetic humans and store them
in the crystals I have provided. Once the crystals has reached the critical
mass, they will detonate and take out Senshi's hometown, along with them. Only
one crystal will be necessary, but I provided additional ones in case
something goes awry. Senshi *must* not survive, am I clear?"

	". . ."

"Good. Now go and complete your mission. Do not fail me or Queen Beryl. Or
all will be lost."

With that, the face of Kunzite flashed off, leaving the figure alone.

"Yes, my Master." General Kyanite sighed.

He still had two crystals left, which meant he had only two more chances
left.

"It's me! I'm telling you- it's me, Ami Mizuno!" Sailor Moon gestured to
herself frantically.

"Calm down, Moon, you still haven't recovered from the pipeline explosion
yesterday. Doctors said that you had a slight concussion, so your memories
would be probably be bit muddled." Sailor Mars tried to placate the hysterical
Senshi, obviously not understanding what had happened as she added, "Please
don't use Mercury's real name- we don't want to reveal our secret identities."

Moon gave an exasperated groan and gestured to the blue-haired Senshi, "And
how are you going to explain this 'Sailor Mercury'?"

Mars had no reply as she turned to regard the crying, no- *wailing* Mercury,
which in an uncanny way, resembled Usagi's usual wailing. There was no way she
could explain the events that had occurred within the last hour.

Sailor Mars and Jupiter were standing outside the room, waiting for Venus to
return when they heard a scream, which sounded like Mercury's, yet not hers.
They bolted right into the room just in time to see Sailor Moon faint. After
nearly half an hour of anxiety-gripped waiting, Moon finally recovered, albeit
a bit dazed. Things went from plain odd to right out warped strange as Moon
answered their embrace differently, insisting that she wasn't Sailor Moon.

Just then, Sailor Mercury regained her consciousness and saw them embracing
Moon, and cried out, "That's not fair! What about me?"

Jupiter had reassured that they hadn't forgotten about Mercury. However, she
did not listen to Jupiter, but looked at Moon rather oddly, almost as if in
trance and glanced aver to the mirror and saw herself. Then she screamed again
before she withdrew to a wall and sat down, wailing like Usagi. Something
about how somebody was stealing bodies or something like that.

That just caught them by surprise because Mercury they knew rarely cried, and
if she did at all, it was *definitely* not like Usagi's. Nor it was rational-
like of her to go on screaming like that. Perplexed, Jupiter tried to shake
some sense into Mercury as Mars tried similar thing to Moon, who appeared to
be talking non-sense.

Mars offered nothing but a sad shake of her head to Moon's question. Moon
sighed as she watched Mercury's pitiful state and walked over to the weeping
Senshi. She then put a reassuring hand on blue-haired girl's shoulder, nodding
to Jupiter to step back for a moment. Immediately, she whispered into
Mercury's ear tentatively, "Usagi? Is that you, Usagi?"

She received no response, probably because the girl was wailing too much to
listen to her, so she hissed sharply into her ear again, "Usagi!"

The Senshi jerked up her head to face Sailor Moon, and when she realized that
she was seeing Sailor Moon, she was about to faint again when Moon grabbed her
and whispered sharply, "Is that you, Usagi?"

Mercury blinked and stared at the girl who by all the normal means should
have been her, and replied weakly as her sobbing subsided, "H-hai. But h-
how...?"

"Oh good, I had hoped that it would be you. I don't know what I could have
done if it wasn't you." Moon sighed, then recognized the bewildered expression
on Mercury's face. "I know it may sound odd, Usagi- but it's me, Ami!"

Mercury, or more accurately, the Usagi locked up inside Mercury's body
replied, "A-Ami-chan? It's really you?"

Sailor Moon's head nodded briskly. Unable to contain her emotions, Usagi
grabbed Moon in a big hug, squeezing her hard as she cried again. "It's you,
Ami-chan! Thank you, I'm so happy!"

"So am I, Usagi." As Sailor Moon, Ami smiled and returned her friend's
embrace.

Few minutes passed they hugged each other, before Mars cleared her throat,
"*Ahem*, I think we would like to know what's going on."

Ami blinked as she had realized that others were probably unaware of their
unusual situation, so she gently broke Usagi's embrace and reassured her
confused face. "Well, I have no idea how it happened, but it seems that our
souls have been somehow switched around in our bodies."

	"Nani?"

"Oh, think of this way, we somehow traded places with our bodies,
understand?"

Mercury/Usagi blinked in surprise, "You mean...? But how?"

"I have no idea how it happened, but we'll find out, I promise. But first,
we've got to convince Jupiter and Mars- they probably still think I'm you, and
you, me. Wait here, okay?" Ami stood up and turned to the others.

"I'm sure you're confused, but I can explain things. But first of all, like I
said earlier- and I know how crazy it may sounds- but I assure you that I'm
not Usagi. I'm Ami Mizuno."

"What are you talking about, Moon? And try not to use our real names- we
can't afford to have anybody finding out about our identities, and it's hard
enough having you and Mercury brought over to hospital. Mars and Luna were
against this, but we had no choice. I mean, we had no idea how badly you were
hurt..." Jupiter trailed off, eyeing Moon oddly.

"I know, but don't worry- I'm all right, and so is Usagi. Though she's bit
down right now." Moon gestured to Mercury, who finally ceased her sobbing.
"I'm using our names because our Senshi identities will only make things more
difficult for us."

"Are you feeling okay? You seem to be bit confused. Your name is Usagi, not
Ami. That's her over there." Mars stepped forward to feel Moon's forehead.

Moon put Mars' hand aside and tried to explain again, "No, I'm telling you-
I'm Ami, and that's Mercury, er- Usagi. Listen to me, I'm telling you the
truth. I can't tell you how it happened, but I do know that our souls has
somehow displaced our bodies. It's probably a sort of spatial distortion that
may eventually--"

"Wait, wait, I think you've lost your marbles, Moon." Jupiter chuckled
worriedly, not sure about how to handle things now. High-content grammar from
Moon and wailing Mercury- she wondered if she should have her head examined.

"No! I haven't lost my marbles!" Moon shouted unexpectedly, then quickly
calmed herself down, "No, I mean, I sorry about that, but just listen to
me..."

"Moon, you need some rest." Mars spoke quietly as if she was speaking to a
troublesome child. "The doctors said plenty of rest should help..."

"Okay, okay, okay." Moon sighed and soothed her nerves. This wasn't going
well. She tried to think of an another way to prove her identity, "All right,
ask me any question, *any* question that only I, I mean Ami, er... Sailor
Mercury would know."

"Um, what do you mean? I don't understand..." Mars turned to Jupiter
befuddled. Jupiter returned the same look.

"Come on, just do it, okay?" Moon pleaded.

Mars glanced over to now-sniffling Senshi then sighed and then tried to think
of a question, but Jupiter beat her to it, blurting out, "How do you feel
about Urawa?"

"No no no, not *that* question!" Oddly enough, Sailor Moon appeared to be
*blushing* faintly as she spoke, "Pick something else- something that you know
is true about Sailor Mercury, something that Moon wouldn't be able to know!"

Jupiter gave Moon an awkward smile, "Well, since you put it that way... Tell
me exactly what happened that night about a month ago. And don't tell me that
was a 'I didn't feel good' routine!"

Mars and Mercury just stared at Jupiter's unexpected reply, dumbfounded.
However, Moon was a different matter, altogether.

"Wha--?" Caught by surprise, Moon stepped back and blinked several times.
When she finally regained her composure, she glared at Jupiter angrily, her
face reddening and spluttering slightly. "How in the world could you do that?
You promised that you wouldn't tell anybody about that!"

Jupiter shrugged, "Dunno. It was the only thing I could think of at this
moment, sorry. But it doesn't matter because only Mercury and I know what
happened- what's the matter, Moon?"

Moon gritted her teeth and trembled visibly, trying to retain her composure.
She mumbled quietly, "I'll get you back for this, Makoto."

	"Huh?"

"But you're right. Since it's the only way I can prove that I'm telling
truth, I'll tell you." Moon tried in vain to clear away the red color from her
face as she continued, embarrassed. "No, Jupiter's right- I wasn't sick at
that time. I had a sort of..." She looked at her feet as she mumbled
something.

	"What?" Mars quipped up.

"All right! I had a CRUSH!" Moon blurted out, then quickly covered her mouth,
embarrassed. "I had a sort of crush on Urawa..."

Mars and Jupiter shouted in unison, "WHAT!" while Mercury inquired,
"REALLY?!"

When they realized what Mercury had said, Mars and Jupiter looked at Mercury
oddly, while Moon continued, "It wasn't much of a crush really, but more of
day-dreaming. I didn't pay attention to where I was going as I fantasized
about going on a date with him," Moon blushed a deeper shade of red at her
words, "I walked right into a pole, then later tripped over several things
that I should've seen. Makoto saw everything and joked at me about it. I
walked into another pole, in front of her again. I was so embarrassed about
that I made her promise me that she would not tell anybody about it."

With that, Moon turned around, still blushing furiously and facing away from
others. She covered her face with her hands and shook her head. "I can't
believe it happened to me..."

Others were dumbfounded by her words, and uneasy silence reigned until
Jupiter finally stepped forward, asking Moon tentatively, "H-how...? That was
exactly what Ami did last month. How did you know?"

Not turning around, Ami spoke quietly through her hands, "Because it's me in
this body."

"You mean...? Oh no..." Jupiter gasped as the facts dawned on her. All of the
sudden, things made sense to her, everything. "Oh my God, it's you, Ami-
chan?!"

	"Yes."

"But how did this happen?" Jupiter asked, still shocked by the incredible
turn of events. "I mean, where's Usagi?"

"Hey, what do you mean? I'm here!" Mercury stood up, bit peeved.

Ami, as Sailor Moon, sighed again, "It's a short story that makes no sense.
I'm not even sure if I understand myself at all."

"I've had it!" Mars had enough, she was too confused. Too much was going on
for her and shook her head, "Will somebody *please* tell me what's going on?"

Ami was about to speak up when Jupiter interrupted her, "I don't know the
details, but somehow Usagi and Ami had their bodies switched around, so
Usagi's in Ami's body, while Ami's in Usagi's. Get it?"

In background, Ami tried to get her words edgewise in, "Er, I'd say that it'd
be logical that our souls were switched, not our bodies..." But nobody
listened to her

"You're talking nonsense!" Mars spat out,

"Can't you see that ? What's it gonna to convince you?! The answer's right in
front of your nose! Mercury wailing like Usagi, Moon talking as if she had
taken vocabulary course, and talking logically, and now admitting her crush on
*Urawa*?" Jupiter shook Mars slightly as Moon, or rather, Ami gently tapped on
her friend's shoulder.

"Let me try." Ami then turned to Mars, "I know it's hard for you to believe,
but I think I can convince you. Does Usagi knows about all this?"

With that, Ami began rattling off all mathematical equations, chemical
structures of elements, and definition of high-content vocabulary. "According
to the theorems, you *cannot* have measures of all angles totaling more than
180 degrees in of provided triangles, or shapes with four points. However, it
could be argued that some figures with four points, such as diamonds and
squares, do not count because they are actually two triangles in one. You just
draw another line between two points that are not connected and you will
notice that they are symmetrical, forming two triangles. Then again, that's
not the point because all figures with four corners' measurements of angles
equals 180 anyway..."

"Okay, okay! I believe you, Ami! Just PLEASE stop all that stuff! It's
hurting my head just trying to figure out what in the world you're talking!"
Mars screamed, clamping Sailor Moon's mouth shut.

"So you believe me now, Mars?" Ami smiled broadly, finally relived that she
had managed to convince her.

	"YES!"

Jupiter nudged Ami, "That was pretty harsh thing to do..." She grinned at
her.

Nearby, Usagi was feeling a bit deflated as Mercury, because she had lost Ami
shortly after she began rattling off. "So you guys know who's who?"

"Yeah... you're Usagi, and Moon's Ami, correct?"

Ami nodded, and Jupiter asked her, "But how'd that happen? I mean, the body
switching stuff?"

"I'm afraid I have no idea how it happened. I can't recall what happened to
me since that fight. I can only remember fighting a sort of enemy." Ami turned
to Mercury, "Usagi, do you remember anything?"

Usagi shook her head. Ami sighed and turned to Jupiter and Mars. "Do you know
what happened?"

"Not much, I'm afraid." Jupiter admitted, and Mars clarified up her
statement.

"We were minding our business like usual when we received your emergency call
that you had located some unknown enemy, though it was clearly not a Cardian,
at a lake. We tried to reach your location as quickly as possible. We were
only a mile away when we heard an explosion, and smoke bellowing from where
you said you were. We feared the worst."

Just as Mars was about to continue, there was a light knocking at the door.
Jupiter walked over to the door, and gestured to others to be ready. She then
opened it carefully, prepared to fight if necessary

"If I may enter, my fellow patients?"

Jupiter gave a relived sigh and let the doctor enter. "Oh, it's only you. I'm
sorry about my rude behavior over the last hour, but I didn't want any
interruptions. You understand that they needed some time with us..."

"Yes, yes, it's perfectly normal. It happens all the time, especially with
families." The doctor shifted her glasses and pulled out her pen. Scribbling
something down on her papers, she greeted Ami and Usagi, "Greetings, Sailor
Moon and Mercury, I presume?"

Usagi was about to blurt out when Ami interrupted her, "That's right, I'm
Sailor Moon, and she's Mercury."

	"Ah."

Ami quickly turned to Usagi and whispered, "Have you forgotten that we're in
different bodies? We may know that we're in wrong bodies, but everybody else
thinks that you're Sailor Mercury, and that I'm Sailor Moon." She silenced
Usagi's protests, "I know you're not happy about it- I'm not either, but we'll
have to pretend that we're as they think we are, okay?"

Glumly, Usagi nodded and kept silent.

Ami turned as the doctor introduced herself, "How rude of me not to introduce
myself. I am Dr. Mikyu Nakagasi, and I've been monitoring your condition since
your arrival yesterday."

	"Yesterday?" Ami blinked.

Dr. Nakagasi nodded, "You've been unconscious for more than 24 hours since
you were brought in last morning. I'm glad that you've awake. I was beginning
to worry there. Still, you're not supposed to be walking around..." She looked
at the Senshi disapprovingly. "At least that means you'll recover from that
explosion with nothing but minor bruises."

Usagi asked hesitantly, "But I can't remember anything about what happened. I
mean, my mind's totally blank there."

"Like I told you, you had a minor concussion. You'll have a temporary
amnesia. Just be patient; your memories will eventually return. Now, if you
don't mind, I'd like to give you a physical examination, just to make sure
that you've recovered, and ask you a couple of questions."

"Well, I don't know..." Ami replied uncertainly.

"Don't worry, I know that you want to keep your identity secret. Although
it's bending the regulations around here, I respect that, my friend. I'll just
mark your names as Sailor Moon and Mercury." Dr. Nakagasi smiled, winking at
Ami. She turned to Jupiter, "If you'll please help, go and tell your friends
that your friends that they've awakened."

"What do you mean?" Jupiter asked confusedly before she realized what the
doctor was talking about.

The doctor nodded, "You've got a quite number of fans out there, wanting to
know how you guys are. At least two-hundred fifty outside, in fact."

Usagi quickly moved over to the window and looked outside, more out of
curiosity than astonishment. Sure enough, there were hordes of people holding
signs expressing their concerns about Senshi. Several of them saw Usgai
peering out of the window and screamed, "Hey, everybody! It's Sailor Mercury!
She's awake! SAILOR MERCURY!"

Cheering ensued and Usagi blushed slightly, uncomfortable about receiving a
such adoration from Mercury fans, who seemed to outnumber Moon fans. She could
only wave timidly at the crowds before ducking inside. Everybody thought she
was Sailor Mercury, not Moon. "Oh man, what am I gonna do?"

Jupiter gasped and blanched. Mars reassured her poking her in her ribs,
"Don't worry. Sailor Venus will be more than glad to help you out." She
slipped him a sly wink.

"Oh man..." was all Jupiter could say as she stumbled out of the room.

"Now that's done over with," Dr. Nakagasai turned to Ami and produced a
stethoscope. "Will you please remove your brooch so I can check your heartbeat
rate?"

Ami did obediently, though she had insisted that she was perfectly healthy.
It took almost an hour before the doctor finally finished Usagi and Ami's
check-up, mainly because Usagi had continued to complain about all the
unnecessary probing and examinations.

"So how's our status?, Dr. Nakagasai?" Ami asked as she tried to replace the
red brooch on her Sailor Mercury, no Moon uniform. She was still having
difficulty in adapting to the radical change of bodies.

"Call me Mikyu, please. Actually, I have to say that I'm amazed at the
results. From what I've checked out, you're perfectly healthy. Normally, from
what had happened yesterday, you'd still be in your beds. Yet, you're already
up and walking without any trouble. Almost all of your bruises have almost
disappeared, and your bodies are speeding up its metabolism in order to
compensate for your sudden activity. You're probably hungry, so I'll have some
dinner served for you two."

"So we can leave now?" Ami insisted.

"I'm sorry, Sailor Moon. Even though you're perfectly healthy in my book, I
still want you to stay here overnight just to make sure no problems occur."

This time, Usagi protested. "But I want to go home! What about my family?"

"Sorry, but you'll have to stay here tonight, and that's it. You can leave
tomorrow at noon, but until then, I'm telling you to stay here. Got it?"

Ami and Usagi nodded meekly, and the doctor then spoke cheerfully, "Oh don't
worry! It's only for a night. I'm leaving so I can tell others to bring you
some food. Don't believe what others say, the food isn't that bad." She winked
at the girls.

There was a slight rumbling of a stomach. Ami looked down at her belly in big
surprise. It had never occurred to her before. It must be Sailor Moon's body's
reflex, having adjusted to Usagi's constant consumption of food.

"Um, can you order extra food for us? Somehow I don't think a single serving
will be enough for me, judging from our metabolism." Ami asked meekly,
slightly embarrassed. Usagi seconded for an extra serving for herself.

The doctor laughed as she left, "I'll see what I can do."

In less than fifteen minutes, there were five servings of food ready and
Usagi dove in first, with Ami following her. Mars could only stare in
astonishment as she watched them wolf down their supper at incredible rate.
Even Jupiter were surprised when she finally returned from her exhausting
ordeal with unhappy Sailor Moon/Mercury fans who demanded that they have their
honored Senshi brought out. Luckily for her, Venus stepped in time and wrested
the center of attention from her.

Ami simply ate her food as if they were nothing, and occasionally paused just
so she could ask couple of questions. "I've been wondering, where's Venus? I
haven't seen her. What about Luna and Artemis?"

Jupiter grinned at her, "Well, you know her. She's outside right now holding
the our audience in the palm of her hands. She's always trying to be the
center of attention, signing all stuff and thing like that."

"As for Luna and Artemis," Mars added, "Luna's at Usagi's home and Artemis at
yours, to check on how your parents are doing."

Usagi suddenly stopped chewing her food and gasped in shock, "My family! I've
completely forgotten about them! I've got to go, they must be worried about
me!" She upturned her table, scattering her food on the floor as she tried to
run to the door, but was restrained by Jupiter.

"Don't worry, Usagi! They're okay, they're just bit worried. But you heard
the doctor, you have to stay here until tomorrow."

Ami couldn't help but voice her concerns, "But if we've been unconscious
since yesterday, then our parents must be worried about us because we didn't
come in last night, and they've probably called police by now."

"Don't worry, we called your parents and told them that you're sleeping over
at Makoto's apartment so she could help you out on your homework." Mars
reassured her.

Ami frowned at Mars, "Basically, you just lied to our parents about what
happened to us, right?"

"Well, we had no choice. It was either telling them a lie, or reveal our
Senshi identity to them, and inevitably putting them in danger if our enemies
ever found out about that."

"Still, I think you'd better call your parents, just to tell them that you're
all right. It's hard for me to mask my voice so they wouldn't realize it was
me who was impersonating you." Jupiter picked up a phone receiver and handed
it over to Usagi. "I think we'd better start with your parents. They're
getting bit worried."

Usagi hesitated a bit, then picked the receiver and dialed in her number. The
phone barely had chance to ring at the other end before someone picked it up.
"Konnichi wa?"

	"Um, konnichi wa? It's Usagi..."

"Oh it's you, Usagi! I've been worried about you! You haven't called me for
hours- what happened? Your voice sounds little funny. Is your throat still
sore?" Usagi could hear exclamations in background as her mother conveyed the
news to rest of her family.

Usagi tried to contain her emotions as she held a tissue to her mouth. "I'm
fine, mom. Really. It's just that I'm..." She trailed off, not sure about how
to explain. Mars propped some helpful hints. "You see, there's a party at
Makoto's house. We're throwing a birthday party for one of Makoto's friends."
Jupiter winced at her last word. "And I really would like to stay here one
more night. I'll come back home tomorrow, I promise."

Her mother hesitated, "Well, I'm not sure... your mommy and daddy's been
worried about you. Shingo, too. I miss you, we all do."

Usagi could hear mother weeping lightly, "Mommy, I miss you too, but I really
want to stay here, please?" She tried to twist around her pigtails
absentmindedly, but then realized that she had none.

"Wait a moment..." The voice went dead, replaced by different one. "Usagi,
this is your father, your mother's very worried about you. Are you sure you
want to stay there one more night?"

	"Hai."

	"And you won't be alone?"

"No, I'll be staying with my friends, Ami, Makoto, Minako, Rei, and others.
I'll be fine. I mean it."

There was a long pause at other end before she heard a reply. "Well, if you
want, I guess it won't hurt to have you stay there for one more night. I trust
that you've been studying for school tomorrow?"

	"Hai."

And so it continued for few minutes before Usagi finally hung up the phone
with an audible sound of *click*, which carried a sense of finality. She
sighed heavily, she didn't want to tell lies to her family, almost everything
she had said were all lies. Lies. She plopped on her hospital bed, utterly
exhausted. She did not move at all while Ami called her mother.

Obviously, it had been harder on Ami than her because she had never lied to
her mother before, and never this bad. Ami was sweating by the time she
finally hung up her phone. "I really didn't want to do this. I hate lying to
people, especially my mother, but I can't believe I did it..." she shook her
head sadly. "Sometimes I wish I had never become Sailor Mercury..."

Everybody gasped at Ami, while Usagi protested, "You don't mean that, Ami-
chan!"

"Oh, I said that? I didn't mean that, it's just a phrase. I really am happy
that I became a Senshi, because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have never met you
all. I'd be still alone and moving around to different schools." Ami sighed,
"It's just that its difficult being a normal girl when you're a Senshi,
protecting people from evil..."

Sailor Mars nodded her agreement, "Yeah, we know. It's not easy, but we'll
just have to try our best, right, Ami-chan?"

"Yeah..." Ami gave a weak smile.

"You guys just take a rest, and we'll try to fix things tomorrow when you
leave this place, okay?" Jupiter tried to reassure the depressed Senshi.
"We'll stay with you until we leave, okay?"

Ami smiled and managed almost a detached thanks and turned to Sailor Mercury,
who was eyeing her remains of food on the floor. "Still hungry, Usagi?"

"Um, yeah. I'm still hungry, but they're ruined..."

Ami produced another tray of food and grinned. "Here, there's still one more
serving left. You can have them if you want."

"Really?" Usagi had stars in her eyes, eyeing the fresh mounds of food and
took them happily, wolfing them down again. Everybody laughed at Usagi's
sudden change of mood, except for Ami.

Ami just laid down on her bed, exhausted and sad. Fingering Sailor Moon's, or
rather, *her* blond pigtails, she began to wonder about how things would be
like for them, now that Usagi and she had somehow had their souls switched
around in their bodies.

What had *really* happened during their last battle? She still had no
memories of what had happened, or what caused the unexpected change.

Would they be able to restore themselves to normal? Or a more frightening
thought; would they remain that way forever?

For the first time in her life, she had absolutely no idea.

	And she was terribly frightened.

I sure hope I haven't killed anybody with bad wording usage here.

Author's Notes:

Gomen, but it took me months of procrastinating before I could finally write
this part. I had originally planned as one-time fanfic, but as I planned on
it, I eventually realized that it wouldn't work that way, so I'm splitting the
series into several parts. I assure you that it won't be long series, maybe
somewhere around five to eight parts.

Now, for the actual story:

It's been so long since I last came up with this story (actually, nearly a
year!) that I've forgotten what inspired me with a such interesting plot:
basically, just put Ami's soul/personality (or whatever it's called these
days) into Usagi's body, and do the same thing to Usagi's, into Ami's body.
It's not easy doing that, especially when I'm trying to refer to the souls
within, yet conveying the impression that souls are still trapped inside
opposite's bodies. A rather daunting task, I tell you. ^_^;

I'm working from here on, on how this would affect them, and others. Just be
patient and you'll see what's going on.

I hope you will find this series entertaining.

More comments later on (maybe), in part two, coming out in two weeks.
