There's one thing that doesn't add up for me here in this fanfic. 75% of
the men are dead, 21% are alive but sterile, and 4% are alive and fertile.
>From my impression of the story, I am assuming that the 4% fertile ones
tend to have better genes on average (1. people like Ranma/Ryouga, but not
Sasuke/Gosunkugi are fertile, and 2. at the end of the notes it suggested
that this virus was for cleaning up the population of people with bad
genes).

Now, assume they want to get every female pregnant. For the sake of
argument, assume there's the same amount of females as there were males
before the virus (that's underestimating, but the numbers still work out
approximately right). For every female to receive sperm from one male,
that means every male has to give sperm to 25 females. If every male gives
sperm to a different female every day, every female will receive sperm 14
times a year. That's enough times to get pregnant, assuming the females
receive sperm on the correct days during their menstrual cycle. If they
time it appropriately, theoretically they _should_ be able to get enough
females pregnant. (I'm saying the male only gives sperm once a day to show
that there shouldn't be a need to give them sperm production increasing
drugs.)

Now, let's say only half of the fertile males are willing to be used in
this way. The government should be able to pay them a magnificent amount
to encourage them to help, considering there's that much more resources in
the world now since 40% of the population is dead. That still means every
female will have sex 7 times a year.

So anyway, my bottom line is, I don't see how having only 4% of the
original male population being fertile would cause enough of a problem
that the governments start kidnapping fertile males against their will.
While the role of the male is a vital part in the creation of a fetus,
after the egg is fertilized he doesn't have to do anything more. Now if
that virus had left only 4% of the FEMALE population fertile, then there
would be a future population problem. I could see the governments heavily
encouraging and paying a lot to fertile males in order to get them to
participate in artificial insemination programs and the like, but all that
talk about body shops, government agents stalking a single male, etc. just
isn't justified here, not with the numbers we have been given.

Also another thing is the fertility tests. Why do those males go to get
fertility tests, when they probably know that if they DO get the "blue
mark" (i.e. are found to be fertile), they'll have all sorts of weirdos
after their meat? The government agents etc. would logically chase after
the males that they KNOW are fertile first, before going after the unknown
ones.

Now with all that said...if someone does continue this story in the
future, here is a scary thought. What if Happousai, being sealed in that
cave, did not succumb to the virus and came out of the ordeal with his
fertility completely intact? :)
