	"Well ..."

	"Yes?"

	"Thank *you*.  Are you sure you've never done it before?"

	"With another woman?"  A pause.  "I don't remember having done
so."

	"... uh-huh.  I'm not entirely sure what you meant by that, so I'm
gonna pretend you just said that you hadn't."

	"Thank you."

	"Very enthusiastic, though ..."

	"Don't ask.  Please, please don't ask."

	"Okay.  I won't ask."

	"Thank you."

	"If you want to trust me with it, though ..."

	A deep sigh.  "There was ... someone that I really, really wanted
to be with, once.  But she ... she was with someone else, and it was
really obvious that she loved him ... and I loved him a lot, too.  I ...
they were so much in love."

	"But you couldn't have --"

	"Not an option."

	"Why --"

	"*Not* an option."

	"Oookay."

	"I'm sorry.  I ... it wasn't *love*, for him, like that ...

	"Oh."

	"I mean ... I could see that happening.  Me, with a guy, I mean

	"It's okay.  I've been with guys ... well, one or two guys,
anyway.  They're ... sometimes, it feels really, *really* good.  Other

	"Right.  Gotcha.  But that wasn't really the problem."

	"So what was the problem?  I mean, I can definitely understand not
wanting to come between --

	"Your brother and your sister-in-law?"

	"Oh.  OH, boy."

	"Yeah.  Oh.  Oh, geez, I forgot that you know them!"

	"Right."

	"Her older sister introduced you to them --"

	"More or less, yeah."

	"... are you okay?"

	"Um ... yeah, I'm fine, Megumi-chan.  Just a little ... discon-
certed, is all."

	"It's okay.  I'm pretty sure that Bell-chan didn't love me back

how she loved everyone in the world, and oniisan most of all ...
Rei-chan?"

	"Yes?"

	"Why are you crying?"
