Hey now! That's what I would like to see, a
fanfiction writer that finds him or herself in an Anime
world surrounded by those crazy martial artists, demons,
cat-girls, bounty hunters, and mecha vigilantes. The
author would then proceed to flip out and try to avoid
being killed in the following brouhaha. My guess is that
the author would spend most of his or her time
screaming "That's it, we're going to die!" or "What the
hell was that!" or "How did you do that?" in real human
style. That would be real, that would be exciting, THAT
would be entertaining.

There are several.  'Kasumi's Lullaby' by Dean Davis is one recent example;
two other examples of this type of self-insert are 'We Just Want to Help
You' by Jeanne Hedge and 'Manual Not Included', one of Richard Lawson's
early works.

Now, if you want more...

WRITE THEM.

B&Ming about the self-inserts is one thing, but it doesn't mean anything
until you put your keyboard where your mouth is. If you truly want to see
something like that, you are more than welcome to write a self-insert of
your own where precisely that happens. Nothing succeeds like success; if
you want to prove to others that your way is the way to go, then by all
means get to your keyboard and write the story.

This week it was the self-insertion 'fic, next week ... who knows.

First they went after the self-insert writers, and then I said nothing.
They then went after the lemon writers, and again I said nothing. Then
they asked for the WAFFic writers, and again, fearing for my safety, I said
nothing. When they finally came for me, I cried out for help - but there
was no one left to speak on my behalf. ^_^

Until next time where I can't stand it anymore.
