Carl Macek ran Streamline Pictures, and was one of the first people to bring
anime to the US.  However, the releases were dubbed (and horribly so.)  He got
quite a bad reputation in the fandom community.  BTW, Streamline Pictures
recently went out of business (wasn't selling too well, I guess.)  If you want
one fanfiction writer's view of Carl Macek, check out "Christmas Carl" by the
esteemed Ryan Mathews on the RAAC archives in the misc. directory under the
title "carl-macek-xmas".  Very funny story.

time that I've seen a Streamline release, just because it was that bad.
