Look... I definitely have been spending too much time in the chemistry 
labs, so please bear with me, ne?

I came up with some MAJORLY stupid ideas.

This now leaves everyone open to kill me for these.

Ranma/Asterix.

It is the year 50 B.C. Japan is entirely occupied by the Chinese under 
the leadership of the great Khu Lon. Well, not entirely. The tiny 
southeastern village of Edo (known to us as To-kyou-to) still holds out 
against the invaders. Life is not easy for the Chinese fores 
garrisonning the fortified camps surroundfing the area.

A Few of the Japanese:

Ranma, the hero of our story. Cunning and skillful, all perilous 
missions are usually entrusted to him. His main drawback is his inflated 
ego, which gets him into no end of trouble.

Ryouga, Ranma's inseperable friend. Incredibly strong, Ryouga is always 
ready to drop everything and go off on an adventure, so long as there's 
plenty of action.

Happousai, the sometimes-venerable founder and grand master of the 
Anything-Goes Martial Arts. It is through his teachings that the village 
has been able to hold out for so long. A lecher by nature, he also has a 
few tricks up his sleeve.

And so on.

I hope this gives you some inspiration.
