As of 1537 HST, my not-so-venerable (read:cranky) Japanese
made-and-bought CSC P-200 died on me, leaving me terminally (pun
intended) short. Now, that would not normally be a bad thing (after
all, I was planning to upgrade to a newer one, anyway), but the fact
is, both drives went bad on me, and are unrecoverable. I had a couple
of DP friends of mine concur it.
There were five major things in there that were of vital importance,
above all else: my professional novel work (fortunately, I had a
backup on Zip), the FFML AE Website (which I was putting the final
touches on prior to next week's upload...thanks for the reminder,
Jeanne), and my work on RTLY 1 & 2, and my work on TOS3. Also on it
were a couple of research projects that I'd been working on for other
authors, and I will try to recover those as soon as possible.
What this means is that TOS3, which had been scheduled for a Christmas
release (important since it dealt with the Christmas holiday)will be
delayed indefintitely, as I'll have to rewrite it from scratch (as of
yesterday, I was 1/3 the way done with it, or about 75 pages...not
bad, considering I started it two weeks ago ^_^). Likewise, until I
can have copies of my work to date on RTLY 1 & 2 sent from Japan
(thank God for friends and fiancees), those are delayed, possibly
scrapped.
This does not affect Sailor Moon AX (which Libby has copies of),
Pencils (Lurker has copies), or Rabbit (for the few of you that know
about this project). Unfortunately, a lot of work has been lost, and
it will take me some time to get to repairing the damage.
Moral of the story:
Never buy a computer from Sega (CSC=CSK Consumer Systems, a Japanese
subsidiary of Sega that makes consumer electronics--think of them as
Sony in reverse)
I shoulda bought that damn Presario LAST payday, until waiting until
this one....
