Hello again, :)
Ok; two problems. ^_^
First, I'm in a good deal of trouble and need some opinions from those
who've read what I've written of DC (it doesn't really matter what revision
although you will have had to read more or less everything). Basically, I've
written a good deal more (I'm currently working on Ch. 8) but am in a real
bind regarding the *huge* BGC intro (upwards of 430K as things stand). I've
had several (admittedly genial) complaints concerning its length and
complexity and after taking a look I have to agree that its length does seem
to detract from DC's plot (although not its own). As I'm planning to write a
stand-alone BGC story telling what *would* have happened had the events of DC
itself not interfered with my BGC alternate, I'm faced with three
alternatives:
1) Leave DC as is and hope that people are willing in general to put up
with the size disparity between the BGC intro and the rest;
2) Chop the DC version to the bare minimum and point people to part 1 of
the stand-alone which will include more or less everything that's in the DC
version up to the point where the two diverge;
3) Leave the DC version alone but change DC's format altogether to a UY-
TSY-type format to become a series of closely-connecting tales building up
to a final climax rather than its chapter format. This would give me free
reign regarding each chapter's size but might get very confusing very quickly.
Basically, I need to know whether people took a look (particularly at
the BGC bit) and just gave up in frustration (and what was most annoying if
you did). If I can't sort this out I'm probably wasting my time trying to
salvage DC and I'd really rather not just dump the thing after putting in so
much work.
Ah, and that reminds me; you may remember me posting some SM fanfic
ideas a few weeks ago. Since I'm going to at least have a crack at one of
them, could anyone give me info on how Japanese orphanages compare with ours,
how the children are regarded/treated, their daily routines, social standing,
prospects etc.?
Again, thanks for any help regarding any of this.
Cheerio,
Craig
