Hmm. First, for a title, might I suggest "Allies and Enemies"? Playing off
the Starcraft slogan, of course.
Second of all...
| "Brother..."
| He looked up at her, the world in complete clarity around him.
| "Yes?"
| "What are..."
| "You are the first of many."
| The Kuno siblings both looked up at the towering form. It's
| single eye regarded them as if they were the insects and it was the
| magnifying glass.
| "You are but the first of many, and when our numbers are
| sufficient, this planet will be ours. There are none that will stand
| against the Zerg."
|
| ...
Gah. And the Terrans without reliable flame-throwers or laser or nuclear
technology. (Cloaked Ghosts with a Defensive Matrix and an escort of several
dozen Marines and Archons. Nukes. The Overmind. Worked for me.)
Of course, since you're introducing the Zerg now, there are other
opportunities for divergence as well. Perhaps...

"Stupid old man and his stupid morning practice sessions," muttered Ranma as
he stalked away from the koi pond, home once again to a sopping-wet panda.
He was headed back to his room and some much-needed sleep when he saw an odd
blue light flashing intermittently through one of the dojo windows. Throwing
caution to the wind, he slid the shoji open... and gasped.
Three... holes in the air, for lack of a better term... were the sources of
the light. They flared blue as they crackled and hissed, and Ranma stood,
transfixed by the sight... until he heard a sound like tearing canvas and
another hole opened up. A ...robot? bird? insect?... with two glowing green
eyes and three wings extended behind it pulled away from the newest hole. It
seemed to notice him and advanced on him, sprouting a proboscis which
sparked menacingly.
Ranma was capable of handling threats infinitely better than he was capable
of handling holes in space. When the whatever-it-was advanced far enough, he
lashed out with a kick, sending it spiraling away to the other side of the
dojo. He thought he saw a faint blue aura flicker around it when it brushed
against one of the walls, but didn't have time to make sure before it came
at him again.
Another punch. Another kick. A swift combination. The robot (he was sure of
it, now) was only batted back temporarily each time; it kept advancing,
relentlessly, while the holes in the air were starting to form into
disturbingly solid objects. Deciding that enough was enough, Ranma lashed
out with the full speed of the Amaguriken, but the robot was cloaked in that
strange blue aura again as soon as the first punch hit. He managed to send
it flying back against another one of the dojo walls, but it braked itself
suddenly and came at him again.
What did it take to stop this thing? As it grew close again, Ranma cupped
his hands, gathered his shaken confidence, and shouted "Mokou Takabisha!" As
the focused burst of chi faded into nothingness, Ranma was surprised and
pleased to see the blue aura fizzle and fade as well. A quick power kick
knocked the robot back into the dojo wall. Its rear fins imbedded themselves
in the wood and padding and held it fast. After a few seconds of struggle,
it fell silent.
Ranma turned to the holes in the air, readying another chi-blast, only to
find that three of the holes, which formed a rough triangle around the
fourth, had been replaced by spires of crystal, a flash of silver-blue still
sparking occasionally across their surfaces. And then, in a blinding flash,
the crystal spires suddenly became... real.
There was no other way to put it. One moment, they had looked insubstantial,
the next... they were there. More than this Ranma could not explain...
mainly because, two seconds later, he was nearly knocked off his feet by a
massive outward rush of chi.
Slowly, like a man emerging from a cave into the fullness of day, Ranma's
body slowly started moving again as it became accustomed to literally being
bathed in strong chi energy. Ranma shook his head in a futile attempt to
clear it and settled instead for backing away, slowly, from the crystals.
"Ranma? Are you feeling alright?" Kasumi's voice startled him and he turned
as quickly as his body would let him to see Akane and Kasumi standing at the
house's entrance to the dojo. How long had he been out? He couldn't tell. He
was about to reply when he saw Akane drop into a combat stance. Spinning
about and readying himself for combat, he noticed that the fourth hole had
taken on a vaguely humanoid shape, and that shape was in the final stages of
becoming solid.
With a flash, a figure clad in golden armor appeared in the center of the
dojo. It rose to its feet... and above its feet... floating a few inches in
the air as it turned to face Ranma and the Tendo sisters.
All three gasped in shock... what should have been a face was instead a
solid, scaled mask behind which were two glowing green eyes. The eyes pulsed
once, twice, and a deep voice resonated through Ranma's mind.
//Greetings, Terrans. I am Tassadar, of the Templar, and I have come to aid
you.//

This was too much to resist, especially considering that the Protoss run on
what they call Psi...
Oh, and Ranma's little blast to the probe damaged it so it won't be calling
in any more Protoss structures, aside from perhaps another pylon or two. It
also can't call in Protoss warriors, but it can call in their armaments...
an image of Ranma and Akane in Zealot power suits came to mind.
