And now for something almost, but not quite, completely different.

"What do you mean: 'it was a glitch'?!" shrieked Skuld.
"Just what I said. There doesn't seem to be any reason for Shiiko to
have received a wish," Urd calmly replied.
The Yggdrasil control room looked much like any computer lab found on
Earth. The white paint seemed fresher than that of most buildings and
there were only three terminals. Perhaps the temperature was a bit
cooler, but then this room housed the computer that ran the entire
universe. Not something that you would want to overheat.
"But what about the creatures we fought?"
Urd typed rapidly for a few seconds. Frowning as she read the output
from the terminal, she said, "The giant bedbugs would never have
appeared if the wish hadn't been made. The bedbugs themselves were
supposed to have been destroyed in a war with a neighboring ant colony.
The mutant should have immediately flown to New York, except that he
found the bedbugs in Graviton City -- which just delayed him. And the
demon was going to be run over by a bus."
"But there has to have been a reason for Yggdrasil to grant Shiiko a
wish," Skuld whined. "I've checked and double-checked the system and
there aren't any bugs currently." Skuld couldn't believe that she had
gone through all of that mess just because some random piece of
corrupted data. "What does Kami-sama say about the wish?"
Urd grimaced, shifting in her seat, and mumbled something.
"What? I didn't catch that."
"Um... I haven't really talked to Kami-sama about it."
Skuld noticed Urd's expression and her curiosity was raised. "Why
not?"
Urd hesitated for a moment, then said, "I haven't been able to get
Him to stop laughing yet." Urd watched as Skuld's face began to turn
red. Not wanting her sister to get into any real trouble with
Kami-sama, she added, "The good thing is that it's over now, right?"
Skuld sighed. "I suppose you're right."
"There is one possibility as to why Shiiko was given a wish."
"What's that?"
Urd clapped her hands together once. "It's fate!"
"That's not funny!" Skuld yelled as the laughing Urd ran out of the
Yggdrasil core. "Come back here!" Skuld extended her mallet and chased
after her sister.

Alternate Ending 1:
"There is one possibility as to why Shiiko was given a wish."
"What's that?"
"While I can't find any record of Shiiko being granted a wish, I did
find a record of a wish recipient who was never contacted by one of the
workers at the Goddess Relief Office," Urd explained.
"Do you think that Shiiko somehow got this person's wish?"
"Possibly. Whatever the reason, Belldandy's going to go back down
tomorrow and correct the mistake."
"What's the recipient's name?"
"Morisato Keiichi."

The waters rippled. Skuld sighed as the image in the scrying dish
wavered and vanished.
"I told you it wouldn't work," Urd said in a smug tone.
Skuld narrowed her eyes and glared at Urd. "You interfered with my
spell," she accused.
"Moi? No, little sister. It's as I told you. If a person is
supposed to get a wish, no power can prevent it."
Skuld rested her chin in her hand and began planning another way to
separate her sister and the annoying mortal that had trapped them in
Midgaard.

Alternate Ending 2:
"There is one possibility as to why Shiiko was given a wish."
"What's that?"
"Perhaps Shiiko received a wish that was meant for someone else."
"But why would Kami-sama allow something like that to happen?"
Urd shrugged.

She was a spectacular superstar. More famous than any other
entertainer before or since, everyone on Earth knew of her. Her voice
had even reached out into the stars. And yet, it wasn't enough.
Minmei sighed as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror.
"I wish everyone in existence could hear me sing!"

Alternate Ending 3:
"There is one possibility as to why Shiiko was given a wish."
"What's that?"
"Perhaps something other than a bug caused an error in the Yggdrasil.
The internal defenses did activate around the same time for some
reason," Urd offered.
Skuld frowned at the monitor. "But what kind of virus could infect
the Yggdrasil?"

In space, a rift opened and a sleek spaceship shot out.
In the cockpit, the redhead turned to her partner. "Next time we go
after a criminal hiding out in that sub-dimension, remind me not to
shoot the foliage."
The blue haired woman nodded vigorously as the Lovely Angel entered
hyperspace.

Alternate Ending 4:
"There is one possibility as to why Shiiko was given a wish."
"What's that?"
"This whole situation was created by some extremely powerful being
with a bizarre sense of humor, who even now is pulling our strings as if
we were mere puppets."
Skuld and Urd thought about it for a minute.
They shared a look.
"Nah...," they chorused.

Any other characters are my own creations and the situations are
certainly mine as well. I don't think I have to worry much about
someone attempting to steal them. This story was inspired by Henry J.
Cobb's "Magical Girls Dream Team" and some random comment made by
Christian Clark (aka TekkaKnight/Teknos Warhammer). It's too bad he's
not here to see this, but then again I don't think I want a Teknoman
after my hide right now.
"Satire is the highest form of flatery, but it remains to be seen if it
will get me to write.
When do the tentacles show up?" - Henry J. Cobb, 9/25/98
