True, but I mean it's kinda totalitarian ,and I want a more
objective
page, I have not read even 1/10 of the total fanfiction out there. (I

there are classics I haven't read. = )
^^; Oh my. ^^; I've read most of the longer fanfics out there...
<points blankly into space> but not the shorter stories. I tend
to read more Sailormoon fanfics and Tenchi fics than anything else.
I read the first chapter. It seemed ok, nothing great though. (I
mean
it WAS only the first chapter.) I may put it as a classic in
controversial
fanfiction. I mean I can't think of one story that is both so loved
and
so
hated by fans of the series.
ehehehehehehe... I think that I could name a few more stories
which I know of... but the author's are prominent and -I- find
the stories good...<shrug>
I still won't post a real op until I have read enough TSY, though
the
things I have read on BOTH sides seem valid. I know there are several
stories that some love and others hate but I doubt that any is as
extreme as
TSY.
I won't name names. ^^ but they exist.
One of the defining features of a 'good' readable story is the
way that it -should- raise a reaction from the reader,
regardless of whether it's a 'good' story or 'bad'. You may
not like the concept, but if it can raise a reaction, then
you've caught the attention of the reader...
True. I won't say TSY is bad writing. It's very good by those
standards.
But Fanfiction also kinda has the responsibility to keep things IC
don't you
think? Or at least plausably so. This is why I think the story is so
loved/hated.
-OR- If they are going to be OOC, then there should be tenable
explanations through story development to describe why actions that
may be OOC to the canon storyline are IC for the 'alternative'
storyline.

and gubby reactions. ^^

Hmmmm. To me, ARD and GS are alternatives to what many would
consider an alternative timeline already. As lemons, ARD and GS
have succeed partly on the basis that they -do- have a storyline.
Although I recognize that ARD is 'inspired' by the UY lemon:
A Prince and the Lecher (Title?) which was in turn based from
Smendou's The Kidnapping -- another lemon.

basis of ARD -- in fact, we can definitively see remnants of such
since Herriot has Oyuki saying...

I would guess that TSY is not suitable for all readers but it's
certainly not something to be hated.
I never really got around to reading much, it never pulled me
in.
It's something that you'll either like, or you won't. I like
reading epic fics or series stories... or long stories...whatever
you want to call them.
I do too. Just a Dream was very Un-UY in tone, but the characters
were
both so familiar and NOT-familiar, and the story was so great it
couldn't
help but pull me in. I'll get around to reading TSY eventually.
I don't know how many of these stories are 'classics' in any
sense:
I liked reading Davies' Together Again: 2937 and 1996.
I'll look for it. What series is this?
A Mega-crossover of insane proportions... rivalling TSY for the
different series that it introduces ^^
It has the core: SM/TM!/MPP/BGC for 2937 and for 1996: SM/TM!/Ranma/KOR.
John Biles' Dance of Shiva, Black Moon Rising, and Bishoujo Senshi
Sailormoon Z. Ranmapunk 2033, Lemonade and Lemon Sherbert would
be classics in many senses.
Lemonade is definitely a classic. Sherbet was OK, but it lost a
little
something. I haven't read any of the others.
Jeff Hosmer's Girls' Night Out is seen as a classic by many -- I
like.
He's also got the BGC/Patlabor stories: Angel of Light and Angel
of Darkness. I liked those as well.
Girls' Night Out, yeah I think that one definitely qualifies.

Yeah those were the reasons I may put it in, under a different
heading. I mean it is freaking huge. Just a Dream is most assuredly
a
classic. I mean it fits all the criteria: It was before the huge
fanfic
boom, it hold up incredibly well, and it's a very good story. I
consider
it the defining Alternate Dimension fic. It's a shame that Still
Dreaming
was nowhere rear as good as JAD.
<sigh> I liked both stories and for me, at least, he's established
an extensive character background for Sil Dendron... ^^
JAD started great. It really did. But I got pissed when Lews
stopped it
for a couple of years halfway. I also thought the whole Onsen Mark
thing was
just plain silly. It's still better than most other stuff out there now
though.
For the limited amount of UY fanfics out there... I'm fairly
happy that we -do- have good fics to read ^^
