I've read TSY several times, and every time I read it I think back to my
original description of the series:

"It's like a really...really...'enthusiastic' Otaku-self-insert, with Ataru
as the Otaku."

Translation:  It's Ataru's wish fuffilment.

The simple fact is that in all of FH's works (and I believe I've told him
this several times), one gets the impression that Fred believes Ataru was
really treated unfairly in the original manga, and it's just because of
"Saint Ataru" that the sh*t really didn't hit the fan.

I could deal with Fred's fascination with lesbianism/bisexuality.  I could
deal with his rather "actual-manga-in-writing" style.

However, about Ep 3, the fic (to quote Richard Jenni's opinion of Jaws 4)
starts slapping you in the face with its stupidity:

"Would Ataru REALLY keep something like his ancestry under wraps?"

"<slap> No, but <slap> <slap> this is a <slap> stupid <slap> fiction. <slap>
<slap>"

That's not to say TSY wasn't fun to read.  It was just ridiculous.  Once you
take that into account, it's a LOT more enjoyable and less irritating.

Of course, I'm still waiting for him to write the perverted Sagussan who's
actually a strict heterosexual.... ^_^;
