Oh, I like the ending just fine. In fact, I think its great. The

is with the hour leading up to those last 30 seconds of self-acceptance

and could have been just the last episode, leaving the other episode
(25)
to have some sort of narrative. (Third Impact, Motivations, etc.)
I'd have to agree with David, I didn't HATE the last two episodes, but
they seemed overly long, longwinded, and lacking explanations on how 'the
human instrumentality project' was initiated and the consequences.
They kind of brushed off the fact that the project meant the end of
humanity as we know it. Kind of a bummer in my opinion. I happen to like
humanity, shortcomings and all.
Plus they showed Misato and Ritsuko's bodies without any explanation on
how or why they died. Not what I expect in a conclusion to a series.
As I wrote at the end of par t one of Garden of EVA, viewing episodes 25
and 26 left me confused and I had to watch it several times before I even
had a hint of what happened. I hope the people in Japan taped the last
episodes, otherwise they'd have to wait for all the re-edits and
movies/oavs to figure it out-if even then.
I didn't HATE the last two episodes, but didn't particulary love them
either.
(BTW I've seen Death:Rebirth, but not End of EVA yet... don't get me
started on the body count in rebirth)
