Thanks for the C&C!

Just for cannon, Ryoga's mother left noodles for Ryoga when she
last visited the home.  She signed the note Mom.  So you might want to
call it an alternate fic.   Well actually you do say it takes place
after the Herb story arc so by default it is a Alternate fic. ^_^ 

	 I agree this might have to be labled Alternate Universe,
everything changes after the Herb arc, but I also hinted that he had
called her mom in the past. She sort of assumed it was a pet  name, and
that he knew she wasn't his mother. That could be a reasonable excuse for
the note. 

	...one option that I'm sure will be played is Ryoga might have

some

possible claim to Akane.  As a Soatome (though I think tradition would
give Ryoga Nodaka's maiden name if not legally adopted by Genma  and
unknown having an unknown father)

	
	It is also quite possible that Saotome is Nodoka's maiden name.
Genma was just a poor martial artist, Nodoka was hinted at being
reasonably wealthy when he married her. [The episode where Genma
describes how to be sensitive to women to Ranma by telling him about a
break up he had just before he married Nodoka.]  In Japan it is
relatively common for the man to take the woman's name if she brings more
into the arrangement.  If Ranma had married Ukyo in cannon after he
recieved the dowry it is quite possible he would have been 'Konji Ranma'.
	Also, Don't forget however that Ryoga is now a 'bastard child'
and Soun might not welcome his best friends shame into his home. If he
even finds out about it. Ryoga will probably be pretty careful about who
he tells this to because he knows it will destroy his chances with Akane
if the right people aren't happy with it, possibly including Akane. Ryoga
will be very secretive about his relation to Ranma, at first at least,
because it is shameful to the Saotome name. For both him and Ranma. Ranma
may not be as pleased as you think about his 'new relative'.

	  Why do so many authors pic up the story arc after the Herb
incident?  What was your reasoning for this?  Just curious.  

	Shi shi houkou dan. It's the best place for late manga stories, 
too much is going on between the Shi si houko dan story and the battle
between Ranma and Herb. Its the first real break they have between
stories in the manga. That and the fact that Herb is just too cool to cut
out.
