Hello FFML! I've been tossing this story diea around my head for several
months now. And on the occasion I've actually decided to work on the
actuall story every now and then. My idea was something I hope hasn't been
tried before, (hope being the objective phrase) and something in which I
could torment those who knew me well with. (I can just see my brother
stalking me down after seeing this post)
Down to the knitty gritty, this story is my interpretation of how the cast
of Tenchi Muyo! might deal with suddenly finding themselves in Anne
McCaffrey's world of Pern. A neato little place with humans, dragons, and
this weird Thread stuff that falls from the sky. Anyway, here's the fic, my
first post to the list. *yay* C&C is welcome, just not flamage, thank you
very much.
Final note, this is just a draft as you were, and there might be a few
errors here and there. If you find any, "Gomen!"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The hills were empty, no one around. It was just the two of them.
"Oh Tenchi... this is wonderful!" Ryoko exclaimed, spinning herself around.
Tenchi watched the peaceful breeze make the grass sway. Ryoko giggled,
then tossed herself onto Tenchi. "Oh c'mon Tenchi! Let's have some fun!"
The sweat dropped appeared on schedule on Tenchi's head, as he was
dragged along by Ryoko. They twirled around a bout, then came across a
hill. Ryoko took one look at the grassy hill, and taking Tenchi with her,
playfully tumbled down it. Just as they managed a good speed, the hill
slopped down to level ground, and their tumbling stopped. Tenchi landed on
top of Ryoko, and stared down at her amber eyes. He bent over and kissed
her, softly on the lips.
Oh my god! she thought to herself, then draped a hand over his
neck. He pulled back from the kiss, and supporting himself on one hand,
used the other to caress her shoulders, then started to slip her vest off.
"Oh Tenchi..." She murmured breathlessly. But instead of following his
current path of motions, Tenchi smirked, and started to shake Ryoko.
"Miss Ryoko! C'mon, wake up! You're dreaming, c'mon! God know about
what... wake up!" Her eyes fluttered a second, and he walked over and opened
a window. Ryoko gave a small shriek at the sudden sunlight, and managed to
drag a sleepy hand to block the sun.
"Awww Tenchi! I was having a good dream too," she pouted. She
raised herself onto an elbow, and looked around, her eyes still adjusting
to the light. But alas, she was at the Masaki house. Sasami was in the
kitchen cooking some lunch, Ayeka was seen out the window sweeping the
stone pathway leading to the shrine on top of the mountain. Tenchi opened
the closet door, and poked his head in to tell Washu that lunch was almost
ready. He however changed his mind, and closed the door shut behind him as
something scaly reached out for him. There was whipping noises lurking in
the background of the closet. Beeps and clicks emanated from upstairs,
where Mihoshi was playing a video game.
"Oh damn... really was a dream." She turned her head slightly to the
side as a cheer came from upstairs. "If she beats my high-score...." She
didn't have time to finish as a little brown fur-ball tackled her and
started to lick her face. "RYO-OHKI!!!" The cabbit stopped it's licking,
and settled herself on Ryoko's lap. She proceeded to meow in her cute
little way.
Ryoko picked up Ryo-ohki, set her on the couch, and got up. She
stretched, and sighed happily as several joints along her body popped
loudly. Her legs brought her to the kitchen area, lured by the smell of
what-ever was cooking. She popped her head in and saw Sasami, apron and
all, leaning over a pan on the stove.
"Hey Sasami, what's cooking?" Sasami looked over her shoulder at
Ryoko.
"Oh, good morning Onichan! I'm making fish!" She grinned as she
held up the skillet where a couple slightly browned fish were cooking.
"And Kiyone is out shopping. I told her to get some Sweet Potatoes from
the market."
"Oh, good." Sweet Potatoes were one thing Ryoko could sink her
teeth into. But that wasn't the only thing she wanted to sink her teeth
into. She gave herself a giggle, then headed back into the living room.
Ryo-ohki had managed to acquire herself a pre-lunch snack in the form of a
carrot. She happily ate it, making occasional noises of satisfaction.
Suddenly something caught her eye. The broom closet under the
stair-case was glowing... again. Ryoko sighed, Same old, same old, floated
through her thoughts. Some smoke crept out, then got sucked right back
under the door. "Uh-oh..." Ryoko muttered, then casually she walked behind
the couch. Ryo-ohki, sitting on the cushions on the other side, was still
eating, until Ryoko quickly reached over and grabbed her back behind the
safety of the couch. There was a pause, then a really bright flash.

Tenchi Muyo!
No need for Dragons!
Part 1

Tenchi sighed as he looked over the new gaping hall in the house.
Another one... He sighed and stepped over a burnt board, trying to decide
whose handy work this is. Ryoko, Ayeka, or Washu.
Ryoko stood as Tenchi walked in. She took a quick look around, and
just whistled. There was a small crater around the area of the closet.
Small pieces of burnt wood fell here and there. The actual closet was
buried under some rubble.
Mihoshi poked her head around the corner of the stairs, streams of
tears falling down her face. She sniffled as she stepped onto what
remained of the landing. "Wha... what was that?" she managed between half
sobs. The TV had just disappeared right in front of her. The now Ex-TV, for
it 'tis no more, was now part of the rubble covering the ex-closet.
Ayeka joined her sister, Sasami in the kitchen, and they went into
the room to investigate. Ayeka went over to Tenchi, "Tenchi?" was all she
could say.
Ryo-ohki popped up from behind the couch, and immediately went for
her perch on Sasami's head, meowing. The pile of rubble and ex-closet
stirred, and a golden orb rose from it. A figure formed in it, and the orb
dissipated as it touched ground. Washu emerged from her little shield, and
looked over the rubble at her foot. All she could say was, "Whoops."
Tenchi sighed, "It was you then, Ms. Washu?" She looked up at him,
then clasped her hands together.
"It wasn't me! It was the Aragions! Not my fault they don't like
cookies..." Several sweat marks appeared on several heads. Some more rubble
loosened up, and a small sphere rolled down the slope of debris. Sasami
instantly saw it and found a liking to it.
"Oooo, what is it?!" She ran over and went down to her knees next
to the sphere, Ryo-ohki meowing her interest. Washu bent over and peered
at the orb, humming to herself.
    "Interesting."
"What is it, Washu?" Ayeka echoed her little sister. Washu looked
up at her, and just shrugged. Ryoko wandered over, stood over the orb, and
looked at it. She bent back her foot, and everyone gasped and tried to
stop her, but it was too late. She gave the orb a swift kick and sent it
tumbling down the small hill of rubble. It came to a stop in the middle of
the circle of people. And there it just sat.
Ayeka's fists opened and closed, and daggers shot from her eyes.
"Ryyoookooo!" she growled, "Do you realize what could have happened?!" she
spat. Ryoko merely shrugged, and in that instant, the orb began to glow.
"That?" Ryoko pointed to the now rapidly glowing brighter orb. The
orb was now glowing white hot, and then it started to expand rapidly.
Everyone made a ditch effort in clearing the area, but the expanding orb
grew too fast. It eventually caught up with them and swallowed them whole,
house included.

Kiyone reached the top of the hill just in time to see the glowing
orb envelop the house. A Sweat-Drop appeared on cue on her blue hair. "Oh
now what...." From her lofty position, she spotted two figures coming down
the steps from the shrine. She knew who they were though. The one tumbling
down the stairs after taking a glance at where the house was, was Tenchi's
father. The calm one was Yosho.

Torran yawned loudly, getting a couple looks from fellow
Candidates. He looked around, and then glared at them as a group. He
leaned back in his chair and was confronted by a couple snide remarks
about falling down backwards. He growled, and got out of his chair and
went outside.
He left the common hall behind him, and headed towards the jungle.
He wandered through the trees and underbrush, until he came onto a
clearing. He sat down on a fallen tree from that last Earthshake... and just
stayed there. As he was looking around... something caught his eye.
Something was poking over the small tree-tops at the edge of the clearing.
"What on Pern is that?"

Ryoko moaned softly, then regained consciousness. As she opened her
eyes, everything was dark. The sun had gone, and darkness had replaced it.
It took her a short moment for her eyes to adjust, but then she could make
out forms. She realized that warm feeling she has was because she was in
fact, laying sprawled on Tenchi's lap. 'Hmm... not bad,' she thought to
herself. But the fact that it was dark was enough to make her drag herself
from her comfortable position. She and the others were still in the house,
but there was something odd about the position of the house. This became
apparent as she took a step. The house was leaning.
A smirk crossed Ryoko's face, and she lightly floated an inch off
the ground. She glided to the cracked glass-door, and pass through. What
she saw made her do a bit a thinking... the lake and mountains had
disappeared... and all she could see instead was trees and.... trees. She
turned around and looked at the house, which looked like it had just been
dropped in the small clearing. There was a rustling, and two small flying
creatures flew away making squawking and squeaking noises.
More rustling noises came from the forest. This time though, they
approached. Ryoko looked around and quickly ducked into a large rock
laying near by. A young man of about 15 she guessed, came into the
clearing. He took one look of the house... and froze like a statue. He stood
there a stared.
Torran had never scene such a house like this before. It looked...
odd. And plus there was the fact that it was propped up on one end by a
large boulder, of which type littered the area around Southern Weyr. He
slowly circled around the house, and came across the hole blown in it.
Now that was another odd thing about the house. There it was, an almost
perfect circle burnt into the side of the wall. Burnt, but not any of the
surrounding area on the wall was brunt.
He carefully crept close, and was about to walk through the large
hole when he heard snapping and loud rumbling. He quickly turned around in
time to see two glowing orbs appear out of the forest. The orbs got bigger
as they neared, and then the large wedged-shaped head they belonged to
appeared out of the forest. The whole dragon stepped into the clearing,
his rider following behind.
"Whoa!" The yell came from somewhere behind a boulder around the
corner. Torran quickly ran around the corner, and saw a young, odd and yet
beautiful woman step out from behind a rock. Or did it more look like she
came out of the rock? That can't be right.
The dragon had just appeared out of now where it seems. A dragon!
That was enough for Ryoko to come out of her hiding spot in the boulder.
It was huge! She stared straight at it, and it stared right back. Its two
eyes like whirling pools of the deepest blue water. It rumbled a greeting
to the new guests.

Kiyone stared at her instrument panel. Nobuyuki was quietly
sobbing on the guest couch, and Yosho was just sitting there, calm and
smug as ever, staring at the Earth through the window. "'Tis beautiful
this time of the year," he remarked. Kiyone growled under her breath.
They had just disappeared. Without a trace. A small button on the display
flashed.
"Looks like there's a trace after all," she muttered as she pressed
the screen. The button flashed, then zoomed in, oddly resembling the
window movements of a Mac... naaah couldn't be. The screen scrolled some
Techno-gibberish which we're not going to get into. Kiyone hummed to
herself, and wished Washu hadn't gotten sucked in also. It would take a
week or two before GP would respond to any message she sent... even if it
dealt with one of their own or not.
She sighed and watched some more scrolling text, then something
caught her eye. She quickly pressed the pause button, and scrolled back
up. She eyed the text squished between two 3-d diagrams. "3% trace
ionization in a stream effect." But what did that mean?

The dragon took a step towards Ryoko, lowering it's massive head.
Ryoko on the other hand would rather it not get closer, so she slowly
started to move back, keeping her eyes on the dragon as a whole. Though
that was a bit difficult considering the dragon was taller than the house,
with still meters to spare. It took another step forward, and Ryoko took a
couple more backwards. The dragon cocked it's head to the side a bit, then
leaped at Ryoko.
The dragon gently closed it claws around Ryoko... well at least where
she used to be. It blinked it's inner-most eyed lid, and opened it's hands
to reveal it had caught air. It looked around looking for it's 'play-
thing.' Ryoko hovered just above the dragon's view. She gathered up her
energy into balls at her palms. She was about to fling them at the
imposing dragon, when Tenchi stepped out of the house right in front of
the dragon. "Tenchi!"
Tenchi looked over his shoulder at Ryoko hovering in the air. That
fact didn't surprise him, what did was that fact she looked ready to
attack. "Hey Ryoko? What are you doing?" Something shoved him hard in the
side. He spun around, and saw black. Black? That wasn't right. Then the
dragon opened its eyes, and now there was black and two glowing orbs. The
eyes of the dragon whirled blue as the dragon looked him over, causing
Tenchi to stumble backwards.
Ryoko saw the dragon shove Torran with it's muzzle, and dived at
it, energy orbs flashing with live energy. As she neared, the light from
her orbs lit the area. The dragon appeared to be a blue color. It turned
its head and watched Ryoko approach, trying to figure out how she's
flying.
"Ryoko, no!" Ryoko stopped in mid-flight, and hung there. The
energy in her hands disappeared with a pop and her amber eyes gave a
couple audible blinks. The dragon reached out and snagged her right out of
the sky. She struggled with the strong hands, but couldn't get free. She
was just about to teleport out when two men came around the corner. Tenchi
quickly ducked into the safety of the dark.
The rider came around, and saw his dragon hunched over, holding
something. He patted the blue on his hind-legs, and gave a couple in-
audible commands. The dragon turned his head around to look at his rider,
then turned his body around. The rider could then see what the dragon was
holding. A young woman was struggling in the dragons strong grip.
"Oh sorry miss..." his voice trailed off as he neared and realized
the young lady's hair was a shade of green?! "Uh... good old Gorlieth won't
hurt you..." She turned to look at him, and glared. The rider took a step
backwards. The glare was only half of it, what was doing the glaring was
the other half. Her eyes had this exotic shape, and the Irises had an
incredible gold color to them. He gave Ryoko an odd look, then told
Gorlieth to let her down.
As the dragon slowly let her down, Ryoko kept her arms crossed, and
her glare on the rider. He snapped a salute of sorts, and introduced
himself as C'ran. He paused a second... and waited for something. Ryoko took
this as a cue to introduce herself. But how? These didn't exactly seem to
be the type of people where her name sounds regular. Oh well...
"I'm Ryoko." Right to the point. At this time, another young man
came into view around Gorlieth.
"Torran! Hey, Torran!" The boy of perhaps 15 looked over at C'ran.
"Take Ryoko back to the Weyr. We'll talk about sneaking out later. First I
want to look over this... building first"
Torran during that time was staring curiously at Ryoko. He blinked,
and nodded at C'ran. He gestured for Ryoko to go on ahead. She did so,
looking back at the house, trying to get a look at Tenchi. But she
couldn't see a thing in the dark house.
C'ran watched the two walk away, and turned his gaze back to the
house. He studied it a moment, his gaze unfocused, and when it refocused
he was turning around to face his life-mate. "What do you man you grabbed
her out of the air?!" He reached out a placed a hand on his dragon's
muzzle, "Are you ok? C'mon, let's go back to the Weyr... I think you need to
be looked at." The dragon aired it's protest in a scornful rumble and
grumble.

Tenchi watched from the shadows as the dragon and rider faded away
into the jungle. His thoughts drifted to Ryoko, and he hoped she doesn't
do anything stupid...

Steam rose off the foods laying in front of her. Ryoko picked up
what looked like rolls of wrapped meat, and took a bite out of that. She
next tried what appeared to be a veggie. She sampled a couple of the new
foods, while Torran sat across from her drinking something. It looked like
cocoa... but probably wasn't considering how he smirked slightly after each
sip. What ever it was, it smelled great.
"What's that you're drinking?" she inquired. Torran looked up at
her and arched an eyebrow. 'She's an odd one, she is...Eating like she's
never ate food before, doesn't recognized klah when she sees it, and plus
there was her reaction to the dragon,' he thought idly. 'Though lots of
people have that reaction to the dragons.'
"It's called klah. Want some?" Ryoko blinked, and nodded. He got up
and fetched another cup and a pitcher-'o'-klah, while Ryoko was trying to
correctly pronounce, 'Klah.' She had just about got it when he returned,
setting down the cup and rimming-it. She cupped her hand around the cup,
and took a sip, and blinked. It had that familiar chocolate taste, but
also had that slight bitter aftertaste that coffee is renowned for. She
drained her cup, and after a couple minutes could feel a caffeine-type
feeling coming on. She nodded her. "More?" Torran asked. Ryoko nodded
again and held out her cup. He quickly re-brimmed it.
"So uhh... what's the deal with that building out there, huh?" She
looked up with cheeks filled with food. She quickly chewed and swallowed,
took a sip of her klah, and thought of a very good answer to the question.
The wheels turned and then... she shrugged.
"Not sure myself. Just uhh... came across it I guess!" She smiled
sweetly on the outside, but muttered to herself inside. 'This boy is going
to be a pain if he keeps asking questions like that...' she thought, 'Gotta
avoid that topic, let's play a little of his game'
"So what's the deal with this W-Weer?" she asked with a little less
then great pronunciation of the word 'Weyr.' But of course I myself don't
know how to pronounce it. Torran quickly corrected her, and she then did
the echoing thing again. Torran took a sip of his klah and eyed her
funnily.
"It's the place where the dragons and their riders live. How come
you never heard of them, or klah, or anything else here?"
"What do you mean? I know that's a chair, and this is a table, and
there's a cup."
"That's not what I meant." He scowled. Ryoko sighed and slumped in
her seat, the wheels turning, trying to find an excuse.
"What does it matter to you anyhow?" she returned, scowling just as
badly. He opened his mouth to say something when a figure stepped into the
room, bearing the air of authority. He pointed to several people, Torran
included as he spoke.
"All right Candidates, get back to the barracks and go to bed." He
looked back over at Torran, and held up and hand, "And who is this..." he
took the usual pause most people do when they notice the details about
Ryoko, "this young lady?"
"This is Ryoko. She was found in the jungle, by a strange and
crooked looking building." The person nodded his head.
"Well go on Torran, go to the barracks. As for you my dear, it
must've been rough living in the forest." Ryoko smiled, to sweetly to be a
real one from her.
"Oh it was horrible!" she said just as sweetly. Torran gave her a,
'Give me a break' look, then headed out upon further prompting by the man.
She shook his head as he left.
"I'm L'doc. So tell me," he said as he took the seat where Torran
was, "How did you manage to stay alive so long in the jungle?" He smiled,
and Ryoko noted the absence of a tooth or two.
"Ahe, it was simple. Now if you'll excuse me, I must return now,"
she said normally, then added again in the sweet voice, "Bye-bye!" She
quickly got up, and left at a brisk pace. "Jerk," she muttered to herself
as she walked outside. She quickly sneaked through the small plateau, then
went down into the jungle. Once in the safety of the dark, she floated up,
and saw the clearing where the house is. She quickly zoomed over to it.

Tenchi had started a lopsided fire in the lopsided fireplace
located in the lopsided wall of the now lopsided house. Ayeka was with
Sasami and always with Sasami, Ryo-ohki as they searched for all
salvageable food. Mihoshi was kept busy gathering firewood and Washu was
working on getting a good power source going. She had only started the
process about ten minutes earlier, and then suddenly some of the lights
flickered on. There was a rustling outside, and Tenchi found Ryoko
floating down, then passing through a fractured window.
"Good of you to join us Ryoko. How did you find the house so
easily?" She looked around, and flipped a couple lights off.
"With all the lights you guys had on, it was rather easy. I suggest
keeping the lights off that way we don't attract to much attention."
Tenchi nodded, and she went around turning the lights off. Washu stepped
out of her closet.
"Well that was easy?" She saw Tenchi playing with the fire, "Why
you making a fire? It's to warm here! Feels good." Tenchi blinked blankly,
then pointed up at the turned off lights. Washu made an 'O' with her
mouth, point taken. She snapped her fingers, then reached back into her
closet. She brought out a neon-yellow log looking thing, and tossed it
into the fire. It flared, then burned emitting just the right amount of
light into the room.
Tenchi dared to ask of Washu, "How did you restore the power?"
Washu grinned at him.
"I simply took a bit of plasma I had kept away for rainy days, put
it in my fusion chamber and set it to generate power using the plasma. Was
way to easy."
Footsteps came down the stairway, and out came Mihoshi. How she got
there, gods only know. She was bobbing her head in a rhythm and snapping
her fingers. Around her head was headphones and on her pants pocket was a
Walkman Sony Industries and she was heading right for the blown up
section of the stairs. Tenchi tried to warn her but it was to late, down
she went!
At the end of her fall, she sat sprawled on the pile of rubble. The
Walkman had popped open, the tape laying off to the side. The headphones
about her head were misplaced, and her lip was quivering. A couple second
later, just when one would think the water works would turn on, she got up
and sat by the fire.
"You know, I was thinking we should save all the batteries we got,"
Tenchi mused. Washu let out a small laugh.
"Don't worry about those. Mihoshi, when did you put those new
batteries of mine inside?"
Mihoshi looked blank, then stated, "A year ago I think" Washu
nodded with a 'Mmm hmm.'
"Then they should be good for another," she quickly did the
calculations in her head, "Hundred years or so" She smiled to herself, and
walked off to the kitchens to inspect the refrigerator.

Over at GP Headquarters, a message came in. The operator at the
incoming message booth, looked over the report quickly, and re-routed it
to science department. The message instantly was received at the Science
department, and sorted into the field-report folder, along with 50 other
messages. The label it was given in the database was, "Analyses; Trace;
1st Class Detective Kiyone"
