Fame is relative of course.  I have no idea who they are.  Doubtless
explanations will be forthcoming in the next chapter though.

Now, I'll grant this is just off the top of my head, but this fanfic has the
potential to be a lot more than pure action. Although... weren't a few of
Takahashi's stories just extended fight scenes?

Yes they were.  Mind you I neglected to mention the reason why 
action fics can be a challenge to write, and that's because they're
far easier to make work with illustrations.
