I think he meant _important_ characters. After all, there are some characters
that can be ignored for the purposes of a continuation, and some that can't --
at least, not if you don't want the reader wondering, 'Now what the heck
happened to _______?'
Ukyou's portrayal was okay, if you ignore Lawson's bizarre idea of her
madness. How he copped out of dealing with Akane's greatest rival for
Ranma's attention by having poor Akane injured in a fight was a sin and
an insult to the best all-around female character in the series. Since,
he has put out her purely obligatory prologue, a small part in his
forgettable Next Generation fic, along with every other character. I
will say that he perhaps doesn't dislike Ukyou because she got a cameo
in the _TOP_ series, which is next to impossible for anyone he doesn't
like to get in.
Um, I thought Cologne was the best female fighter, but fans have odd
tastes. . .
He said "character", not "fighter"... and as such I find that I must
agree with him. Unfortunately, I must note that this is only an opinion,
and not everyone will have the good sense to see this. :P
Personally I think -everyone- is a little on the -mad- side. How sane is
it to carry spatulas wherever you go?
Well, considering the situations she often finds herself in, I'd say
that it only makes good sense.
How sane is it to maintain an ML of 800+ with nothing to gain but a
couple of Internic bills, and bandwidth that stretches the imagination?

Myself, I am sorta annoyed with Gumby, yes, but I'm even more annoyed
with the people who keep reflexively bashing him. This post (ie, the
one I'm responding to) didn't really bash him, but many others have.
