Okay this is the most verbose post I've seen
Gubby put out yet. He has listed why he doesn't
like the way Lawson treats the characters of
Ranma 1/2 in his TIL.

I happen to think that their are few changes
I'd like to make in TIL and Magic myself but
on the whole I'm happy with them as they are.

I also do not happen think that they are
character slams. Fics that I do think are
character slams are Curse of Darkness and
Kyoto Chronicles (nothing personal there
Blade, Epsilon). And as Blade said in the
notes to his Ranma/Star Wars fusion, if
you don't like the way they wrote the fic
then feel free to ignore them.

Continuation fics are a very valid genre.
The ending of Ranma as well as UY left a
lot of things unresolved. Since a lot of
people like nice tidy endings they are left
with wanting more. Those creative enough
to do so write continuation fics.

Besides didn't Takahashi herself say that
it is up to us fans to keep her stories
and characters alive after she had finished
with them. (Paraphrasing from memory, I
think it was in responce to a question if
she would ever write a new UY story.)

So, if Lawson sees the events of TIL and
Magic as how he would like the Ranmaverse
to continue then he is free to share that
vision with us. If we don't like it we
are free to ignore it and forget about it.
