Thanks so very much, everyone, for the response on DW2, chapter 1. I really
appreciate it. Most of you have asked about "Drunkard's Walk 1", and asked me
to send either it or a URL where it is located to you. Well, I'm sorry, but
there is no version of DW1 that is available for distribution. When I first
began plotting out the "Drunkard's Walk" metaseries about two years ago, I made
the first stop the world of Velgarth -- the world of Mercedes Lackey's Heralds
of Valdemar. However, because of very good legal reasons, Lackey has for a
long time asked that no fanfiction be set in her world. When I learned that,
I abandonded DW1 about 25-30K in.
Now recently, I am told that there are certain things a fanfic author can do in
order to write Valdemar fanfic with Misty's "blessing", but all my sources
(even though they agree) are second-hand. When and if I get first-hand info
on what makes a fanfic acceptable, then I will complete DW1.
Now, I did send out a couple copies of DW1's fragmentary start to the first
couple folks who asked, before I got this shower of requests this morning. I'm
sorry, but I won't be doing that from this point on. There are just too many
requests, and it would be on shaky grounds vis-a-vis Lackey's requests to the
fanfic community. So my apologies.
