As much as I like searching the web for new authors and new fanfiction web
pages, I often avoid going to pages in Geocities.  Why?  Because my computer
is ancient, and the pop-up advertisements at geocities slow my processor
down signigicantly.  I don't have time to fight with a second browser window
opening when it already takes me three times as long as it should to get to
a good story.

Now, with at least 40% of all anime webpages in existance being at
Geocities, this limits my choices.  There are pages there that I access
regularly because I know that they are pop-up free.  Off the top of my head,
two of those are The Hearts of Ice page, and The Eternal Lost Lurker's page.
Kudos to you guys.  My own personal page is also geo-pops free.  

It's easy and free to protect visitors to your page from these monstrosities.

There are three ways to keep geo-pops from coming up when someone accesses
your geocities page.

1.  Sign up for Geo-Plus.  This costs five dollars a month, but you get a
lot of bonuses, and your page becomes an advertising free zone.

2.  Put up one of their geo-banners on each of your pages.  There are
instructions all over the place on how to do that.

3.  On each page, go into the advanced html editor, and, after the </html>
tag at the very bottom of your code, put a tag that says <noscript> .  This
will keep anything extra from attatching itself to your page.

It's that simple.  

Please, please, please use one of these methods if you want folks like me to
be able to access your html masterpieces without tearing their hair out
because an advertisement is keeping their fossil of a computer from reading
your page before the end of the 20th century.
