It's about 15K, but think of it as both teaser and thought experiment. I

Okay. My thoughts on this...

1. Your attention to detail has always taken my breath away. This is no
exception. Every last police homicide procedure given, every 'i' dotted,
every 't' crossed. Very nice.

Thank you. Rob Barba's comments on the Japanese Police were also most
helpful, and will incorporated into the revision. Any fanfic authors
want to know a bit about the Japanese PD, Mr. (or should I call him
Petty Officer?, naw, I'm not in that canoe club anymore...) Barba is the
man to ask.

2. You do realize you're going to infuriate one group of fans by the end?

Perhaps. :)

No matter which one you choose, you're going to anger the supporters of
that character, as they'll say 'oh, he/she would NEVER do that...' and
slap little OOC tags over you. Wear Nomex when you release the last
chapter, and ignore the heat. ^_^

One of the objectives of this 'fic will be to point out that every
single suspect in the Ranma 1/2 cast (as written by Takahashi herself)
can be shown to have plenty of good reasons to secretly hate women. We
can say OOC simply because none of them were actually serial murderers
in the manga, but my aim is to make them brutal killers and still have
the reader make the leap of faith and say, "yeah... I could see that."

3. My response to them is this: Look at the personality profiles of the
serial killers throughout history (both recent and deep-past). Although
primarily male, they have been from almost all walks of life and all
upbringings.

Very true. I found the diary entries of Jack the Ripper to be quite
provocative. He was a middle class merchant with a really bad arsenic
problem. Cannibalism also seems to be a recurring theme, while sexual
assaults (murder-rape) seem to be a more modern occurance (or were
-quite possibly- never investigated as such in the past.)

Since the formal study of serial and mass murder began, childhood abuse
(both physical and/or sexual), and family instability are very common
denominators. The worst sadists have predominantly been abusers of
animals in childhood (the biggest and most serious sign that a child
needs help!)

Offhand I'm tempted to say Ranma did it while in cursed
form (the evidence suggests a female perpetrator, after all), but in truth
it could be any of them.

Hmmm.... Could be... :)

Overall, it's a good beginning. I reserve judgment, though, for when the
work is completed.

Fair enough.
