Ahem..

	After both Emily and Miyo-chan wrote requesting fics that were lost in
drive crashes and computer migrations, I went looking for copies for them.
Then Dan Root published the letter about his fic cleanup and reformatting
service.

	Well, we could all use an HD that doesn't crash, that can't get lost, and
is always available for emergency backups for our fics.

	It just so happens that such a service is both available and free. No joke.

	Being poor myself (I live on a $600 a month medical pension) I spend the
time that I don't write cruising the freeware/free services pages on the
net, and I've found this.. FreeDrive.

	It's an advertising-supported free service that offers you 7.5 megabytes
of web based storage that is accessed through your web browser. At the
moment, only users of IE 4.0 or Netscape can use it.

	Signup is free, usage is free, and the only limits to its use is that
unlike ftp space, you can't share it with a friend unless they too sign up
for a FreeDrive. Additionally, while you're uploading/downloading files,
you have to look at scrolling ads, much like GeoCities.

	And that's just the free portion of the service. If you can afford $5 a
month, they will increase your space to 20 megs.  $10 a month gets you 50
megs.

	I've taken to uploading backup copies of all my fics to my Freedrive, just
to be safe. Should I ever loose them to a HD crash, they'll still be out
there, safe on my FreeDrive, waiting for me to recover and restore.

	I'm hoping that White Wolf and Tybalt don't consider this spam.. there
have been more than a few requests the past few months for help due to lost
fics due to HD crashes, lost floppies and computer migrations that didn't
come off as well as was expected. If we all had a few extra megs of storage
space on the web, it would make life a LOT easier. Now we can.
