The sheets were soft and the bed warm, a soft light stretched casually
across it and the single body sprawled out on the bed.
Single body? Unngghh, where is she?
The woman on the bed groped around to make sure her partner was no
longer sleeping with her, then slowly opened her eyes to look around.
The balcony door was open, the silky curtains gently flapping in the
soft breeze. The marble floor stretching past the door for a few feet
into the dawning light...
And there she was.
Standing, naked, in the sunshine.
Holding her sword to her own neck.
If the woman hadn't seen it before, she would have been surprised, but
now...
"My love?" she asked, getting up from the bed and moving towards her.
She didn't emit a sound, she merely stood with her hand steady,
basking in the daylight.
"You wouldn't leave me alone, would you?" the woman pressed.
Her hand wavered.
The woman walked up behind her and wrapped her slender arms around
her, resting her head of long blue hair on her back.
"If you must go, take me with you, for I could never live without you
beside me," the woman said, closing her eyes in case this time it
happened, in case this time she did go with her.
The loud clang of her sword hitting the ground and burst of light that
followed wordlessly said that the crisis had ended for this morning.
As the blue hared woman lifted her head to look at her face, her love
collapsed to the ground, sobbing into her hands.
The woman held her close, trying to soften her tears, quietly
whispering to her.
"It's all right, hush, my love."
She rose her bloodshot eyes to her lover's face. "It's not supposed
to be this way," she coughed though her tears.
"I know, but it's the way things are."
They sat on the balcony, clutching each other for dear life, arms and
bodies intertwined in an attempt to hide from the world around them.
Crying together. Softly whispering each other's names.
"Michiru..."
"Haruka..."
