The anime, I guess... and from other fanfics where she uses a
mallet...

Well, it's true that most of the Ranma characters use mallets at various
times, but overall I think Akane tends to be the most prolific malleter.
This lead tot he fanfic convention that she is almost the only one that
uses them. (I have her use them too...although I had Ranma and Akane's
mom use them as well).
