	Actually I think it's mostly from a mixture of three sources, 
Urusei Yatsura where everyone uses the Mallet, The opening sequence of the 
first movie where she pulls it out before chasing after Ranma, and of 
course the many fanficts where it's depicted as something other than a 
comic effect.
