I know the last time that I posetd this it was crap...a lot of made up junk.
But thanks to everyones...help, its much better now...I think. Please give it
a shot, and read it. I'd like to know what everyone thinks.
Insert your favorite Takahashi disclaimer here. I don't own any of these
characters, I just try to get into their heads. And why shouldn't I? They
get into mine. There is no WAFF here, unlike almost all of my other fics.
I'm not good at darkfics, or sadfics, but I guess this can be counted as one
or the other, maybe. <<
I am the Ucchan
My name is Ukyo Kuonji, 17 years old, junior at Furinkan High School. And I
am in love. It wasn't supposed to end up like it did. It never does.
Ran-chan was my best friend since we were only 6. Every day I would cook up
an okonomiyaki, and he would come to steal it. We fought, he won, he got a
free breakfast. Every morning it went like that. He would always win. Not that
he was that much better than me, although he was, but it was really more of a
game between us. Two kids, the best of friends for the short time we knew each
other.
I fell in love with Ran-chan. Maybe it was a silly childish crush..but I
wanted more. I got Father to engage me to him. I was so happy, I went out to
tell all my friends (not that I had all that many in the first place). Ran-
chan didn't even know about the engagement, or so he tells me. Damn that Mr.
Saotome, asking him if he liked me or okonomiyaki better. Guess which one he
picked? Mr. Saotome had agreed with Father that he would get out yati as dowry
for me. That was just fine with me, I could be with Ran-chan forever, and I
could still cook.
One morning something was wrong, I could feel it. I went out to check on Ran-
chan. I got there just in time to see that fat jackass running away, pushing
Ranma away on my yati. I ran after them as fast as my little legs would carry
me, tears streaming down my face, yelling for them to wait for me.
"Baibai, Ucchan!" Ranma called, waving to me. Didn't he see my tears?
Couldn't he see I was crying and upset? Some friend he was. Some fiance. As
they rounded the corner, way ahead of me, I thought I would never see him
again, and I was crushed. Not that Father was too happy about it, either, mind
you. I was supposed to go with them when they left. That was the deal, they
got the yati, and I went with them to marry Ran-chan when we got older. I
could say Mr. Saotome forgot about that part, but that's just plain stupid.
As I said, I was crushed when Ranma left me. All my friends knew about it
quickly. Gossip spreads quickly, even amongst small children. You can't
imagine what it was like after he left.
"Ukyo's fiance left her!"
"Ukyo can't even keep a guy around by cooking for him!"
"Don't talk to Ukyo. She's not good enough to play with us. She couldn't even
keep her fiance."
It was horrible. No one is as cruel as young children. The teasing, the
tormenting..I just couldn't take it any more. I had to do something, and I
knew exactly what that something was. I denounced my femininity. I started
dressing like a boy, acting like a boy, being a boy. My name was already
masculine, and it really wasn't all that hard to pass myself off as a boy.
"Good kid," people would say. "Make a strong worker one day, he will."
Good, a boy. That's what I wanted to be. Not that I really liked being a guy,
but it was better than being ridiculed by everyone I knew. I dedicated my life
to the art, and okonomiyaki making. My school was a combination of both,
Okonomiyaki style Martial Arts. It's a rather unique style, consists of mostly
using spatulas and okonomiyaki ingredients. I could make a real mean Flour
Bomb. They don't really do much, just create a big cloud of flour, but it
distracts and momentarily blinds an opponent.
For 10 years that was my life. I was a boy, did boy things, went to boys
schools. Several of them, actually. Although I was a convincing boy,
eventually they would find out my secret, and I would have to move. I don't
think there was a boys school in the entire Osaka area that I hadn't been to.
As I got older, it got harder to disguise the fact that I was a girl. Breasts
just don't belong on a boy, if you know what I mean. Bras didn't help, all
they did was keep them from sagging. I don't remember how I figured it out,
but one day it just came to me. I found a long piece of cloth, and wrapped it
tightly around my chest several times. I put my shirt on and looking in the
mirror. Perfect. I could still tell that they were there, the slight bulge at
the top of my shirt confirmed that, but I could pass it off as just a bandaged
wound, or muscle. After all, I was a martial artist, it's only natural to have
muscle.
My disguise worked well, and I got through several years of school just fine.
But that all changed when Tsubasa came into play. Tsubasa Kurenai, the cute
girl that was going to an all boys school. The cute girl that fell in love
with Ukyo, the guy, just because I was nice. The cute girl that was really a
boy. As if it weren't bad enough that I had a crossdresser in love with me, I
was supposed to be a guy. Maybe we would have made a cute couple, the girl
that pretended to be a boy and the boy that pretended to be a girl. Of course,
no one knew I was a girl. It was sick, and perverted.
I told Tsubasa that I already had a fiance, but he didn't care. So I moved
again. I went to Nerima, in Tokyo. I had...business to see to there. Ranma
lived in Nerima with that jackass of a father of his. It was time for revenge.
Oops, did I forget to mention that I had dedicated my life to revenge against
the Saotomes, too?
I found the old man. After a little persuasion, he told me what I wanted to
know, including where to find Ranma. He's a martial artist, I'm sure he healed
quickly after me 'convincing'. I did, however have to get a new spatula. The
old one somehow got itself broken over Mr. Saotome's head. The only reason
they
At last, after 10 years of suffering, the day came that I got to face my
enemy..and my best friend. The fight was going pretty well..until my top got
ripped, exposing my chest for all to see. I was humiliated. And then Ranma
changed my life for a second time. He said I was cute. I couldn't believe it,
Ran-chan said I was cute! I fell in love with him all over again.
After everything was settled down, I finally got to talk to Ran-chan. I
learned why he had chosen okonomiyaki over me; he had thought I was a boy!
Even before I denounced my femininity, he thought I was a boy. That I could
handle. What I couldn't handle was that he was already engaged, twice! Not to
mention this other crazy girl that was in love with him.
Kodachi Kuno, the crazy girl, never really posed much of a threat. Ranma
never liked her, and her only claim to him was in her deluded head. She's a
Kuno, that explains enough.
Shampoo, the Chinese Amazon wasn't all that bad either, unless you count the
fact that she was really the only one of the fiancees that had a real chance
at beating me in a fight. I would never admit it, but she was actually a
little better than me. The only reason they were engaged was because of some
Amazon law that says an Amazon woman has to marry an outsider man if he beats
her in combat. Actually, according to that law, they were already married. But
it was pretty obvious that Ranma-honey didn't like that arrangement. From what
I gathered, he liked Shampoo a little more than he liked Kodachi, which wasn't
saying much.
It was the other fiancee, Akane Tendo, that really got in the way. It was
another arranged engagement, agreed between their fathers before either was
even born. It could have been any of the 3 Tendo girls, but Akane was chosen.
Something about the fact that Akane hates boys, and Ranma turned into a girl,
thanks to a training accident in China. Akane was a real tomboy type. She
couldn't cook, can't swim, violent, and no where near as good at martial arts
as me.
But somehow she was always the one that Ranma saved, always the one to keep
his attention.
Some time after I found out about Ran-chan's curse, Tsubasa found me. I had
given him a picture of Ranma to prove that I really had a fiance. It was a
picture of Ranma's girl side, of course. I had been pretending to be a boy..I
didn't want anyone thinking I was a pervert or anything!
Tsubasa showed up to try to get rid of Ranma. Somehow he wound up falling in
love with his girl side. And then falling in love with Akane. There was no
hope for that kid. Any non-boy that was nice to him would do. However, it
seems that Tsubasa knew I was a girl, and had known all along. Akane was
right, he wasn't really a pervert..unless you count the crossdressing. But who
am I to judge someone for crossdressing?
By that time I had enrolled in school, gotten to be good friends with Ranma
again, somewhat friends with Akane, and owned my own restaurant, Ucchan's
Okonomiyaki, after Ran-chan's old pet name for me. I lived in the tiny
apartment above the restaurant. So small it couldn't really even be called an
apartment. Just two small rooms and a bathroom, but everyone has to live
somewhere, and for the past year and a half, its where I've called home.
I suppose I should really skip to the good part, the botched up wedding of
about 5 months ago. Ranma's wedding...and Akane's. I wasn't even supposed to
have been invited, but Akane's sister, Nabiki has this thing for money. She
loves it. She sold me an invitation, and I got ready for the wedding. For
obvious reasons, Shampoo and the Kunos weren't invited either. I assume they
got in the same way I did.
We all came unarmed. Unless you count Kuno's bad poetry, Shampoo's exploding
ramen, and my okonomiyaki bombs. Kodachi didn't have anything that I could
see, just that ugly black wedding dress. Like she was rally going to marry my
Ranma-honey. Hah! If anyone was going to marry him it would be me.
I'd rather not go into the details of the chaos that ensued that day. A lot
of damage was done to the dojo. No one really got hurt. Ranma had some damage
done, and was knocked unconscious, I think, but it was nothing he couldn't and
didn't get over quickly. Not that I cared at the time. I was pissed off and
depressed enough to do one of Ryouga's Shi Chi Hokodans. Ryouga was there too,
of course. I think he crashed like everyone else. The jackass just sat there
in the corner, being depressed. Some help he was.
Needless to say, the wedding was called off. I had another chance at Ran-
chan! At least, that's what I thought. The next few weeks went by slowly.
Ranma and Akane were mad at me. I can't really blame them, I'd be mad too, if
someone had wrecked my wedding. At least I gained back most of their trust and
friendship after apologizing, which is more than I can say for Shampoo.
I noticed something in those weeks. Ran-chan and Akane were getting closer,
and acting a lot nicer to each other. Still, that didn't prepare me for what I
saw one day. Ranma and Akane came the the shop, hand-in-hand, huge grins on
their faces, and rings on their fingers.
"Whaa..When...How?!"
Ranma had blushed. "We eloped last night. You're the first one we've told."
After that I heared nothing. My mind shut down. I sent everyone away and
closed up shop. I sent my 'waitress', Konatsu away. He put up a hell of a
fight, refused to go. But finally I got him to leave, with several hundred
yen. More than I've ever actually paid him for working for me.
For the next two weeks I lived in my darkened room. I had lost, and I wanted
to die. The shop was kept closed, and I would speak to no one. The Amazons
went back to China. No one told me they had gone, but I knew. Their only
reason for staying was gone, so they left. I still don't know what happened to
them.
I must have lost 15 pounds in those two weeks. I didn't eat, hardly slept,
didn't say a world. I was alone in the world. At one point I thought to
myself, "Now I know how Ryouga-honey feels." I did, any maybe more so.
And then, one day, he came back to me. Not Ran-chan, I had lost him forever
to Akane, but Tsubasa. He loved me..even if it was more of an obsession. He
stalked me, he obsessed over me, he wouldn't leave me the hell alone. But for
some reason I felt sorry for him. I knew how it felt to be heartbroken. I
took him in and let him live in the other room. I couldn't just turn him down.
Eventually I reopened the restaurant under the new name 'Ukyo's Okonomiyaki'.
I never wanted to hear the name Ucchan again. Ranma is still my friend, so is
Akane, but it will never be the same.
He isn't as bad as he used to be. He's stopped stalking me and following me
everywhere I go. Finally I can go to the bathroom without checking to make
sure the sink is really a sink, and not another disguise.
Over the past few months, I've fallen for Tsubasa. I just couldn't help it.
He started dressing more masculine, but he still likes to crossdress
sometimes. He says I'm not allowed to complain, since I still wear a boys
uniform to school, so I don't.
Who knows? One day I might be Ukyo Kurenai. I love Tsubasa, but he can never
replace Ran-chan in my heart. To Ranma, I am Ucchan, and that's all I'll ever
be.
