There seems to be a universal misunderstanding of the term
'continuation'. When I used the term to describe a certain type of fic
(such as Shampoo 1/2), I am referring to a fic that never ends, or a
'never-ending fic'.

When a fic has several dozen huge chapters that seem to have nothing or
little to do with anything important, you know you have a 'continuation'
fic. These are worthless.

I have nothing against fics that pick up from the end of the manga
(though these tend to be bad in any case).

Then, by your definition, would nearly all of Urusei Yatsura be a
"continuation fic"? The universe is very "open", and most of the
episodes deal with the "new weirdness of the week".

Yet, many people enjoy Urusei Yatsura, even though, by your definition
(as far as I understand it), most of it is pointless. (I don't really care for
UY, but then again, that's my opinion -- not a seeming statement of
fact.)

What say you, sirrah?
