The major problem I had with this one is that you really can't get into
the joke(s) when using the Japanese pronunciations instead of a
mispronounced American pronunciation.
Eg Son is not pronounced like sun.
It has a long 'o' form, so it sounds kind of like Soun (Tendo).
Boy: Who's that?
Otaku: That's Gohan.
Boy: Gohan?
Otaku: Yeah, he's Goku Son's son.
Wouldn't the otaku also know that the Japanese, like most asians, use
family name first as opposed to family name last? It really throws the
story off. Like the Son/sun part I mentioned above.
Boy: B-but I thought you said there was only one sun.
Otaku: There is.
Boy: Then who the hell is Goten?
Otaku: He's the second sun.
???
Otaku: That's Sheng Long.
Boy: From Street Fighter?
Otaku: No, he's the dragon.
Boy: As in Dragon Punch.
Otaku: No. The name of the dragon is Sheng Long.
<Snicker>
I won't argue about his name.
I've always just spelled it without the first 'g'.
Otaku: There's also a few other characters that will show up in other
version of the series, like Pan.
Pan is also part of the DBZ series, albeit a very small part.
Boy: Who's Pan?
Otaku: Actually, it should be 'What's Pan?' because Pan is bread.
I the otaku _trying_ to confuse the poor guy?
Boy: Okay, so what's pan again?
Otaku: Bread. And also Gohan's Son's daughter after he grows up.
Take off the apostrophe s on Gohan.
Otaku: Oh boy, this is gonna be a looooong night....
If I was listening to this guy, it would be a long night.
"Ashura Ou" "Son Goku" "Ikari Shinji"
