Falling for an Angel
(Rough Draft)

Heaven thundered and shook with the cries of a thousand angels screaming
death under the sight of their God as demons from the underworld poured out
from the depths of hell itself to mock and engage the heavenly hosts of
angels as they all charged the bloodied fields of heaven. While the tall
golden doors of the almighty city, with its high walls of smooth white
stone, were scrolled with the blood of angels and devils alike.

Screams of the dying lay constant on the battlefield as the war in heaven
continued mercilessly, and heaven itself cried out in a sea of blood. As
the dammed and the righteous collided in battle

Hosts of angels poured out into the fields of heaven, glistening in their
golden armors and shining clothe clothing. Their wings brilliant in the
constant light of the sun as they flew over the ravaged fields. Lances,
swords, and maces fought with claw and teeth alike as each blow soiled the
heavens with blood.

And on this field

Dancing on the ruins of fallen angels, a single graceful body laid torn the
bodies of her enemies. Clothed in free flowing silk that hugged her body
more like a second skin than clothing which was slit on both sides as not
to hinder the graceful movements of its bearer as her sword carved a clean
path before her. Her long fiery red hair trailing behind her as she
'danced'.

And even as she pierced the chest of another of the dammed, its blood
running down the length of her blade as she drew it out from its dying
carcass. Bathed in crimson as shining blue eyes watched warily at the demon
spawn slowly encircling her from all sides as she drew her feathered wings
close to her body. Looking small in the assembled circle of black winged
demons.

Ranko stood silently in the center as she watched carefully the demons
surrounding her. Each licking their lips in anticipation as they looked
forward in drawing blood. The angel before them looked good in their eyes,
even better if she lay dead beneath their feet they thought. Vengeance had
its rewards. Even though the siege of heaven wasn't going in their favor,
vengeance would suffice for now, starting with this fragile one before
them

Ranko looked neither fragile nor was she weak, she was deadly. A trained
war angel, she'd seen more battle than these fools ever did, when she and
her brethren tried to storm the gates of hell itself. A thousand laid dead
and more injured before the host of angels were forced to retreat before
reinforcements arrived. That was the testament on how good she was. And
these, demon spawn surrounding her, wouldn't pose much of a challenge nor
threat as she made short work of them when they all charged her the same
time. And all that remained was her, standing victorious among the ruins of
once proud angels.

The battle itself seemed to be going well for them as she saw to her
delight the forces of evil retreating back to the bowels of hell from which
they came from. Her joy was to be short lived however as happiness turned
to dismay as she noticed the hordes of demons were not retreating, but
actually regrouping. Massing themselves for one final charge

"All mighty Father!" She thought out loud as she stared at the waiting
horde of demons, and hovering above them, a dark cloud slowly began to over
the fields. Before she looked on in horror as the horde of demons swept the
field like a rushing black tide and her brethren were pushed back as they
engaged the coming onslaught.

Ranko suddenly found herself pushed back as more demons poured out from
hell. Realizing that each one she took by her blade, two would replace the
one fallen. And she was hard pressed to defend as she dodged their attacks,
as she was unable to counter any of them. There was just too many of them.

"Father!" she cried as she fought with renewed strength and zeal. This had
to end quickly she thought, even as another one of her brethren fell to the
tide of darkness which seemed to get nearer to the gates of Heaven.

Momentarily clearing a space around her, she assessed the situation
quickly, looking at the betrayer seated on his dark cloud, Ranko gritted
her teeth on what she knew she had to do as she quickly too to the air and
charged the man that betrayed them all

***

The betrayer smiled down at her as he saw her charge up after him.
Amusement clearly painted on his face as he hurled a thunderbolt at her.
She dodged it nimbly as she sped towards him. Blocking a few with her blade
as she rose up to greet him on his dark cloud.

Face to face, the betrayer stood stoically before her, dismissing her
instantly at a glance as Ranko charged him with righteous anger. He deftly
blocks the attack and counters it with one of his own. Ranko dodged to the
side as she was pressed hard upon getting up. Dodging his attacks proved
to be difficult as he was fast, very fast and good with the blade. As she
leap away to safety, dodging a blow that would have taken her head as she
assessed him from a far. Standing a few meters away from him, sword poised
before her warily watching for his next move as she edged closer to him.

The betrayer, annoyed and no longer amused with this angel before him,
doesn't hesitate to unleash a powerful beam at her. Catching her off guard
as the beam collided with her sword. She was pressed back by the force of
the beam as she felt her arms weaken slowly as the force of the blow
pressed on with the blade she held.

Gritting her teeth, she closed her eyes as the force of the beam engulfed
her in a sea of bright bluish white light. Before finally she succumbed to
unconsciousness.

Some where on Earth and another time

The branches of the trees surrounding the Masaki shrine swayed gently in
the night breeze. The sky was clear and calm as Tenchi Masaki silently
descended the shrines stone steps, headed for the fields below.

[" It sure was great of grand pa to let me stay here for the summer. It
sure beats staying back home with dad. Too bad grand pa had to go somewhere
with him "] Tenchi sighed as he looked at the stone steps before him as he
went down.

[" Well at lease he didn't say I had to practice while he was gone. Guess I
could use some peace and quiet right now "] He sighed again. Tenchi
Masaki, normal student, dressed in a plain blue green shirt and pants. And
ordinary as far as anyone was concerned.

A cold wind suddenly rose up and greeted him as it blew from the mountains
and surrounding forests of the Masaki shrine, cooling him off as he walked
down its steep and almost narrow stone steps. Pausing, he takes in a deep
breath as he took in the wonderful view of the mountains in the horizon.
Covered with all sorts of trees and bushes as they overlooked a clear and
quiet lake nestled in the center of the valley. He really felt at peace
here, makes you almost want to forget everything, and he smiled at thought
of doing so.

"Huh?"

>From out of the corner of his eye, he caught a brief glimpse of bright
light as it appeared from the heavens. The object slowly took shape and
formed that of a shooting star as it streaked across the night sky. And he
gazed up longingly at it, smiling, before suddenly frowning as he further
examined the object falling from the sky.

"That isn't a falling starA comet, meteor?" He thought puzzled as he took
a step back, stepping onto a higher step so that he could get a better look
at the falling object.

"No!waiwaiwait! It's coming this way!" He nearly screamed as he realized
with fear that it was falling towards the valley in front of him.

And it was too late

The impact of the meteor sent a shock wave of bright light spreading all
around as a dome of pure white light covered the entire valley below him.

Tenchi covered his eyes with his arm as the shock wave rushed pass him, the
force of it made him fall on his back as he lay there on top of the stone
steps leading to the temple. As the wave of light washed over him before it
finally settled and was over.

Cautiously, Tenchi lowered his arm from his eyes as he blinked a few times
to adjust his eyesight. Everything was the same as it was before he saw,
except that there was now a faint glowing light radiating from the lake
below.

Curious, Tenchi got up and ran down the stone steps to investigate the
cause for the eerie light...

***

Brushing aside a branch that was in his way, Tenchi stepped out of the
forest and stared in wonder in at the sight before him. The glowing lake
lay quiet and peaceful almost as if nothing had happened at all. Only a few
gentle waves rocked the surface as it reached the shore.

Taking a tentative step forward, Tenchi swallowed a lump that was forming
in his throat as he felt anxiety grab hold of him as he looked at the still
glowing waters of the lake before turning his eyes on its source.

Stepping up to the lakes' edge he could feel the cold water lapping on his
sandals as he looked at the source of the glimmering light.

There, floating a few meters from him was the source of the light

Human, he thought from what he could see from where he stood, though why a
person could glow like that escaped him as he slowly stepped into the cold
waters of the lake. He could feel his legs slightly go numb, as he moved
on, from the water or from fear, he couldn't tell as he inched slowly
towards her. This was what he concluded as he took note of her shapely form
and legs. Dismissing her wings when he saw her back floating above the
surface of the water. Seeing this, he quickly rushed to her side. The
waters stood below his chest as he gently cradled her head in his shaking
hand as the other wrapped itself around her slim waist to slowly turn her
over.

And he gasps in wonder at the sight before him

Never had he seen such beauty. Soft pink lips, slightly parted to make her
look even more enchanting adorned a slightly heart shaped face. Framed by
her fiery red hair. Skin so soft and smooth as to make the purist silk seem
rough in comparison as a faint glow surrounded her whole body, making her
look even more beautiful if that were possible.

The glowing light of the moon and the still and quiet night, neither one
helped in lessening the beating of his heart as he held her gently in his
arms. The cold waters of the lake gently lapped around their bodies, but
all he could feel was warmth as he held her.

Snapping himself out of his daze, he gently cradled her body in his arms as
he carried her out of the water and stepped onto the moist soil of the
ground.

Taking a quick glance at her, he couldn't help but feel spell bound again
by her beauty. Too many questions floated in his mind.

["Where could she have come from? And who could she be?"] Were but some of
the few questions he needed or wanted answers.

But those were for later as he took note of her drenched and barely
covering clothes as he hastily tore his eyes away from the sight, as he
carried her in his arms. Headed for the shrine above the stone steps, as
the dark clouds thundered overhead in the calm night sky

I implore you to do so. Please send all C & C, MST or even flames to the

* Explanations.

I was browsing through my collection of tapes one-day, when I came across
an old tape with no name tag on it. Curious I popped the tape into my VCR
and realized it was a copy of the movie "Date with an Angel" one of my
first favorite movies. And as I watched it, I thought, "Wouldn't it be
great to see Ranko portrayed as an angel." And if you haven't noticed yet,
she's my favorite of all the characters in Ranma. Anyway, I remembered the
challenge my sister gave me and came up with this. I just hope you liked
it.

And as for continuity, Tenchi met this angel before any of the other
characters arrived. (i.e. before Ryoko awakened, though not sure as of now.
This was meant to be a one-shot piece. )

For AMG (Oh my Goddess) I haven't actually put it down. But it will be
included eventually if I continue this one.

And for Ranma, well for the most part, I would be focusing on Ranko.

To tell you the truth, this was just meant to be a one-shot story. Anyway
if you want me to continue it, please tell me. And I'll think about it. Any
suggestions for this story are also welcome as well as suggestions for my
other fics.

Anyway, that's that for my rant. ^_^
