You know, there are so many fanfic conventions out there, which often
persist not just because others have done them but because they make a
certain amount of sense. The main problem isn't using them, but being
aware
that they're not cannonical. It would be interesting, along with our
"dead
horses" page, to have a page on all of the fanfiction conventions found
in
Ranma 1/2 (and Sailor Moon if you like, although I'm not a big SM fan).
Just a list so people know where this stuff comes from.

Shameless plug: I've written-up an essay page about this, but it's far
from complete:

http://www.crosswinds.net/anaheim/~slythe/ranma/fanmiss.html

Of course, the server is in the middle of upgrading, so it might not
be immediately-available at the moment, either (and that really sucks)

I actually think I want to do this. I'm not the most well-read fan out
there, so I'd have a hard time pointing out stories where fanfiction
conventions were either originated or done well, but that would be part
of
the deal... here's the convention, here's the logic behind it or here's
what
the manga or anime says or doesn't say, and here's a story that uses
this
convention to good effect.

If this has been done before, stop me now, and tell me where I can go
look
at it. ^_^

No, no, no! Go right ahead! Your criteria is MUCH more detailed than
mine, and you'd probably know more than I do.

THE CONVENTION: Passion Spice (or Ukyo is legally male, Mrs. Tendo's
name
is... Kimiko, isn't that it?, walking on fences is balance training,
Nabiki
supports the Tendo household and pays for repairs with money made from
Kuno,
etc.) Explain the convention and why it gets used or makes sense.
Come up
with a pithy name for those really long ones. ^_^

Mental note: add to page. :)

SOURCE MATERIAL SAYS: (Usually nothing -- but you can include some
comments
on the surrounding circumstances).

CONVENTION ORIGINATED IN/PUT TO GOOD USE IN: (List story, location it
can
be found, author, and any comments you may have.)

That's a hard one (although the origination of Passion Spice shouldn't
be too hard... ;)

If this is a good idea, and hasn't been done before, then I'll await
your
private e-mails, and I'll compile a list, to be posted here and then
elsewhere. If you have any other suggestions or comments about how I
should
go about this, let me know.

Miko!
