<< It's canon.
I'd use Asuka instead. Rei is more or less related to Shinji and they
shouldn't
 be having children together. >>

that some of her DNA comes directly from the source. As for Shinji
and Rei not having children together ... well ... they can't so the
argument of this point is really moot anyway, now isn't it? And,
Well, the thing is also--later on in the series, Rei does become
more of a mother figure to Shinji. Like Patrick Yip says on the EVA ML,
Rei initially represents the universal first crush, but once Asuka comes
onto the scene and certain other interactions between Shinji and Rei
occur, Rei moves into a more maternal role.

while I'm on the topic and practically inviting flames, I'd love to
ask something of all the Eva authors out there who refuse to write a
ShinjixRei-style fic. Is it just because of their "relation" that you
refuse to do this, or is there some deeper hatred going on here? I
Well, I do have Shinji and Rei set up for Evanjellydonut, and it
will remain so for the duration of the fic series. I do have a problem
with the relation thing, which...well, I'm not going to spoil it for you
all. :) It'll come out sometime later.
Anyway, as it is, mythoughts on this generally is: ShinjixRei has
huge humor ppotential, which is why I keep that around for NGEjd. But for
a serious relationship, I can only write ShinjixAsuka. This is not to say
I don't enjoy some seriously written ShinjixRei pieces out there, it's
just that I don't think I could pull it off myself.

mean, I'd really like to know. And no, I don't care if you flame me.
<weg> Just go right on ahead and try it. Besides ... if Shinji x Rei
is so bad ... why is it that the Shinji x Asuka fics never measure up
to the level of the Shinji x Rei fics? <chuckles> Well, so much for
trying to stir up a controversy.
Oh, really? Many have told me that my ShinjixAsuka continuity has
been some of my most powerful writing, moreso than Evanjellydonut, in the
emotional realm. I invite you to check it out.
