His morning classes were dull, even at the accelerated =20
program that Ranma was in. In his current class, he listens half-=20
heartedly as the instructor drones on about some lesser-known =20
aspects of the history of the Empire. *Who really cares about =20
some failed revolution in Britain=92s old North American colonies?,*
=20
he thinks with a bored sigh. The western region of North America =20
had been a colony of the Empire for over a century, after the war =20
with Spain. *Would the shape of the world really have changed =20
that much?* There had been peace in the world for the last =20
several decades, since it was divided up among the three =20
superpowers in the last war: Japan, Germany, and Russia. Ranma =20
could care less about history himself. Science was all that =20
mattered to him.=20

The premise of the fic involved a far-future technology, so I had jumped
to the assumption that the timeline was around 100 years or more ahead
of ours. The part about the failed American Revolution I took for the
reason why the Axis achieved world victory.
