"Anyway," Ukyo said, "I really thought this conversation was
about more than just having our sons live and train at the dojo.
There's the matter of the dojo itself...."
The first two thirds of this fic was pointless. Chit-chat is good in
moderate amounts to set a mood and rhythm for a scene, but it's
pointless and boring in and of itself.
"We have made a decision," Akane said. "Ranma and I have
decided against an arranged marriage. That decision is final."
Boring, and against the Ranma society.
"Girls," Akane said, "we have something to tell you...."
The Next Generation type of story seems like a good idea but it's
ultimately pointless because the writer soon discovers he is no longer
writing about Ranma, but within Ranma. Many have tried to invent a new
Ranma crew, and all have failed spectacularly.
The only Next Generation fic that I've ever liked even a little was
_Desire Doll_, and that had more to do with the great dialogue than
anything else.
