That's the biggie. Is it because pre-reader lists have closed off

fanfics to the membership here? Or is it because alot of people are
uncomfortable with the idea of 899 other folks viewing ther C&C? Some 

other

reason? I honestly don't know. I'm trying to find out the old fashioned 

way

- open discussion. I honestly look forward to anyone's ideas on this 

topic

    I'd like to interject at this point and say, out of my own 
experience (and only my own), that I've experienced quite a bit of 
C&C-drought.  However, I'm going to add that most of the stuff I write 
is rarely touched by people who dislike DARKfics or people who know my 
reputation for wanting the extreme and extremely real.  
    I don't think, on the other hand, that it's caused by the creation 
of prereader lists (and I'm not saying you think it is, Andy).  I think 
this is more of an issue that people simply do not have the time to sit 
down and write C&C, save for fics they find more than interesting or 
find enthralling.  I don't think this is the absolute case, but more a a 
possible majority.  
  I also don't think it helps any that C&C issues have been debated 
recently (no offense meant to those who participated).  As a newbie 
fanfic author that rejoined a while ago, I will say that after joining 
and having my in-box flooded with debates and personal attacks, I am 
hesitant to post anything, let alone C&C or fics.  I'll post the C&C 
privately, and I'll post my fics privately, but it'll take a bit to get 
me to post anything that I don't consider 'refined' enough for the FFML.  
I will admit to actually fearing the results, albeit influenced mostly 
from past experience.

   I don't think I have any solid answers for you, Andy.  I think there 
are lots of factors to be considered, but I hope to have offered one or 
two.

    Again, perhaps the best way is to ask the members of the list, ne?
