Yes, I'm working on a solution.

Why not just restrict posting to people subscribed to the list?  I do that
for any and all lists I run, and most of the other lists I'm on have started
doing the same.  SPAM levels plunge immediately.

	Would work, but a problem inherent.
	The FFML is a high-volume list. That is long known, and I think
it's even in the FAQ by now. (Haven't looked at it in a while.)
	Many email accounts cannot/will not handle high volumes of mail.
The possibility exists, of course, of getting a free account that will do
it, but for some, it is easier said than done.
	Many fanfic authors use these limited-load addys. They also want
some pre-reading before puting out something on raac.
	Simply, many valid authors can't subscribe to the list, but do put
worthwhile mails to this list, requesting that any responses also be CC'ed
directly to their address. And besides, when you really look at it, there
isn't _all_ that much UCE here. There are more valid mails from
unsubscribed folk here than nonvalid ones.
