Here's a simple challenge to those who bemoan the shortage of C&C on the
list: Post more of it yourself. :) I don't want that to sound snide, but
the best way to lead is by example, no?

Hey, you are right on there Gary. I have seen you post a ton of C&C so I
won't argue with you on that point :) As for me, I only read BGC fics, so
the amount of potential C&C coming from me gets cut down quite a bit right
there. It gets even narrower still because I like BGC fics that tend to
stay true to the series (No, I'm not an OOC ogre ^_^) and strive for the
original feel. But I'm not complaining about the amount of C&C *I* am
getting. I'm opening this topic for debate because so many people are using
pre-readers, and IMHO I believe that as a result the list has become the
second or third place that a fic gets shown, not the first, as it used to
be. It is my stand that perhaps we are getting away from why this list was
created: to debate fanfics in an *open* forum. Okay, we have 900+ people on
this list, and some people have suggested that this is part of the problem.
This doesn't make sense to me. The more people we get here, the more
discussion we *should* be getting! But why not?

That's the biggie. Is it because pre-reader lists have closed off certain
fanfics to the membership here? Or is it because alot of people are
uncomfortable with the idea of 899 other folks viewing ther C&C? Some other
reason? I honestly don't know. I'm trying to find out the old fashioned way
- open discussion. I honestly look forward to anyone's ideas on this topic
:)
