Hi, I left al the pertinant stuff below because Ididn't feel like writing
under it....
I'dd have to agree with you....
The only reason to do it becides:
"wanting to share and expand on concepts to illuminate others"
(and grocery lists)
is ego-gratification pure and simple...
even if you write something which NO-ONE EVER SEES...you are doing it for
your own happyness and enjoymewnt.
If it's appreciated by others (which in turn makes you feel better..) and
want to improve upon your craft then this becomes a self perpetuating
cycle....
of course in the Xanth series ego-fufilment became cash fufilment :)
If you simply HAVE TO write (you can't put that bloody pen down)....it's
still working to a personal satisfaction ideal.
well, then there are the crazies.....

This brings up an interesting question: what is the "right" reason for
writing? Could it be.. because a person *wants* to? Nah. That's stupid.
Quality aside (they weren't asking for opinions anyway), hey, if they want
to write it, I can *guarantee* that someone will read it. Most likely
someone will like it too.
And as surely as the Critic can claim SIs are all crap, I can claim the
only right reason for writing is because you want to.
